23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

If you have the time, this podcast from The Athletic team is excellent. It previews the trial and includes an experienced civil litigation attorney and NASCAR fan (Heather M-something…can’t recall the last name) who has been following this extensively. She has excellent insights. Jury is 6 people; a verdict has to be unanimous for the plantiff’s to prevail; if plantiff’s win, Judge BELL WILL DETERMINE THE SETTLEMENT TERMS. He could order any number of actions, and damages.

By the way, despite my support of NASCAR in this case, it is very clear the France family is led by a total POS.

I wonder if the following inevitable appeals will go on for many more years to come.

I remenber when the Alex Murdoch trial was the golden age here is SC , and now nothing will ever be the same.
When the uppity out of state transplants yapped about all the culture they left behind, I could always remind them that we had Alex.
But that trial and the included food trucks are gone forever now
I enjoyed the Susan Smith trial as it was all locals including my boy Tommy Pope.

Ah, good times. I was there one day, right up close to the front, and caught some chicken bones that still had meat on them. You can't do that now; those seats were 'right sized', and the spoiled ignorant younger generations eat that boneless nuggets crap anyway.

I can't find the pre-trial show. I'm looking forward to stats about the bench length and banking, number of legal pads each side gets, and stage break timing; a couple of Fox's scripted humorless 'humorous' pieces, lawyer introductions before they're driven around the courthouse, Mikey doing a grid walk with the lawyers and litigants, national anthem and witness swearing-in ceremonies, maybe even Rutledge Wood showing us what the spectators have on their tailgating grills.
...and the usual bitching about the legal process, and how it has abandoned grass roots citizens. Might be fun to see what Phelps calls the judge.
Was doing a bunch of running around this am, so I was listening to nascar radio. Surprisingly not one mention of the trial
Yeah, instead they did the Mt. Rushmore crap. This trial is a game changer, but Bagley and Pistone do not have enough IQ points to realize it.

I get that it could, but I don't see that. At some point, fans will check out....sponsors will leave.....and owners will get out.....see CART. They have to get this resolved one way or another, or we will see division like we never have.....that will destroy the sport. It may be too late IMO,

That's would be the most sensible option, but things have gone far enough already to make you wonder if it is to late for any common sense. Dying on the hill might satisfy their pride more.

Note: Post convieantly written to be ambiguous about who has the least common sense or to much pride, with room to claim the greater wisdom and knowledge after all it is all said and done.

It makes me sick to think of it.
I still remember it so well, a friend and I was going to be a part of the search party on the upcoming weekend before she confessed.

We adopted a baby boy the following year and discovered the joy and rewards of parenting. I like to think it is the best thing I ever did in spite of all my many flaws (and I made some mistakes).
I am not the only one to feel it but it still makes a me sappy. How could anyone hurt a child, God bless them all, they deserve a better life than I can ever give them ....

Denny had plenty to say about Airspeed awhile back in 2024.
Airspeed is a huge stride in Denny Hamlin’s career. In partnership with Michael Jordan, a whopping $16 million has gone into the first-class facility. .
Denny Hamlin spoke to Bob Pockrass recently, where he disclosed the real inspiration for making such a huge investment in Airspeed. Hamlin was asked whether the move paid off, to which the 23XI co-owner bluntly said, “You’re not going to get it back in five years. As much as this thing costs, it’s hard to say.” And that truly states the long-term orientation of Hamlin toward the project.

As a result, underscoring Airspeed is an investment that stands apart from his race team. Hamlin further said, “This is my real estate investment. And then I have a race team that occupies it.

Hamcrap can talk about how “woe is us” that they have to compete for sponsors. First, that’s the challenge for all teams. Secondly, if a sponsor decides to put their dollars behind NASCAR marketing (sponsoring a race or a specific element of the series) verses putting their name on a car, they clearly believe that’s the best use of their investment. Other businesses and sport organizations are also talking to them, seeking their funding. Such a BS contention without any substance or context.

We don’t know if all of these comments are from his questioning by the Kessler gang, or it some is from cross via NASCAR counsel. Perhaps they will ask Denny to demonstrate his business prowess as an “owner”, something his own people laugh at.

Denny hasn't been cross examined yet, by Jordan's bunch. I don't think he is finished by Nascar's council yet. They have had opening statements and Hamlin is the first witness.
Here are some of the opening statements.

My question for everyone is how much different do you think this trial goes if MJ isn't in court? Everyone on the planet knows him and for that reason nascar is fighting from behind front the start.

I think Nascar made some great points about airspeed.

Listening to Jeff Gluck when they introduced themselves, Polk half way raised out of his seat as did Hamlin. When it was Jordan's time, the attorney said to the courtroom, You all know who he is Michael Jordon. Jordon stood all the way up, continued to look all around the room for a time before he sat down. It's pretty clear he's in play. Most of the jury don't know squat about Nascar, or SMI, or boring charters, finances etc., but they know who Jordan is.

More eyes on this. NASCAR has benefitted from fewer eyes on its sport. Airspeed was likely built on MJ's bank account.

Exactly. Its doesn’t matter what is actually legal or not. The MJ says its bad, therefore it is.....

And they should play MJ....He isn't a stupid redneck who should be flogged. Hold his beer.

Denny is doing just fine with that high school diploma of his. How are you doing?

And that is why he is the main person put out front on this trail, doesn't hurt either that he was a star basketball player at UNC. I still think the teams ( all of them) are with 23XI and FRM behind the scenes (silent partners).
