500 RACE thread --- Daytona

From the 19-minute highlight video on YouTube this looked like rather decent race without much chaos before the final lap.

I feel like the caution definitely would've come out for the first crash on the last lap if Chase hadn't been within a few meters from the lead.

At the end it looked like Tyler was the only car left running, he wasn't a fluke winner though. That move on the backstrech was executed perfectly.

Connor got seat time and yes gator made a block he should not have but they did ok.

Excited for Connor in atl. I’m also a svg fan (he was doing quite well before the big one)

I thought it was honestly a good one, if you put the fuel save and stage cautions aside. It got good on green flag cycle pit stops imo. and Vortex theory held true to end it in regulation without keeping us there all night long thru a weather delay or into a Monday finish.

I'm almost always in favor of letting them race back to the line in big moments like this, barring a safety urgency to get out there (tough call sometimes).

Upon further review I didn't realize that Reddick actually faked to the high side on the 9 then was on his low side six in a flash, some may say there is not much skill involved in the superspeedway sweepstakes and there is certainly an element of luck needed with help needed on the push (seemed like the 38 was trying to set himself up for the win instead of push the 9 to the line unfortunately), but I second that these were perfectly executed and timed skilled moves on track by the 45 a talented wheelman wheeling his racecar in a high pressure moment.

Same with Hocevar to work his way to the front damn close to winning the thing before he got sent off by the 43 and Stenhouse.

but anyways, good morning good to see everyone here btw, it's about to start raining here in SoCal hoping for vortex.

I wonder how Jim France felt when he saw MJ in VL 🫢
Jim France being forced by the requirements of his position as Nascar CEO to put on a fake smile and greet Michael Jordan and Tyler Reddick in VL was a delicious moment of high karma. I mean, the guy just spent 14 months trying to boot 23XI out of Nascar. And now MJ and 23XI has captured the Daytona Friggin' 500 right in Nascar's home town. LOL.

Reminiscent of Pete Rozelle handing Al Davis the Lombardi trophy.
