600 RACE thread --- Charlotte

Also with how much of a troll Kyle was, a few of his old on track competitors who had routinely fought with him for wins getting hit with Suarez taking 2 tires + bad weather every time one of them got in striking distance would be something he would've gotten a kick out of.

Denny and Bell are both pissed.

Love that Carl is back. Saw some God interview with Carl and said that he tried to hide his son from racing but they can't, so Carl Edwards kid is taking the racing journey too.

Need more Carl in the sport. His driving career is done, but he belongs in the sport.

Carl should be in the booth

Larson 3rd most stage points, 6th most points on the season. Some results on the table.

Katherine Legge looks like she just got off of work and wants to hit the sack. Looks like she's about to fall asleep.

If this was indycar you'd all be applauding the strategy and saying its amazing.
Some of the worst 500s on record were rain-shortened. 1973 and 2007 come to mind, although not all down to the weather. ‘73 was a disaster all around. Dario got his first win in ‘07 in pretty similar circumstances to tonight.

Ultimately I think calling it was the right call and I'm happy that we got most of the distance in AND it was actual racing and not constant cautions. But man, the weather officiating was terrible. Would've been better to just keep it red flagged during that lightning caution instead of jerking us around like they did.

I know that points are what they are, and stages are what they are, but I don't know if I like that it's possible to outpoint the race winner.

This may get flack, but Briscoe is CARRIED by the 19 team Truex built. He is not a championship caliber talent imo.
I categorically do not agree. Truex didn't build anything. He wasn't there--particularly in the end. Maybe Pearn built that, but it has been a bit of time. This is Small's team, and I freaking love James. I think that Chase is an elite driver....the key has always been whether or not Chase and James can manage their chemistry. They are two very different people. They will be fine.

Seeing the Busch family there at the track broke me.

I'm ready for 400 miles of racing now.
It was an incredibly moving tribute. As fiercely as these guys battle on track, the NASCAR circus is still a big family that travels across the United States together for three quarters of a year, and the drivers' wives and kids are a part of that family.

I will say this though, I hope they did ask Brexton if he wanted to be there. Saying goodbye to their dad is the worst thing that could happen to an 11-year-old and I hope he didn't feel too uncomfortable with a camera in his face at that moment.

It's a great problem to have. Fast cars...competitive drivers. Logic tells you that if the 11, 20, and 45 work together, Suarez doesn't steal this....but I'd rather see MY cars compete....even though I was more pissed than both of them combined. After races like this, I like to go back to the beginning when I was elated if all of OUR cars made the field.

Didn't you have a similar opinion back in the day about Truex's sucess, as in more about the team & equipment and less about the driver.

Note: My apologies if I have confused you with another poster, the memory isn't what it used to be.
