A strategic #FAIL

You mean desperate to get back into victory lane like Jeff Gordon ?

Really dude? That is the best you can come up with? My point was that he would have to be hard up for a win to even think about putting Kurt in the car....BTW, last time I checked Gordon won three this year, when was the last time the 43 rolled into victory lane?...I think we are at two different levels of desperate here...

I like AJ alot. But I guess if I was putting out the money to run a race team, I'd probably want a driver that gave me the best chance at winning some. Have to say that would be Kurt. Call them desperate if you want to. I call it trying to do what's best for your business. Maybe it will be a 3rd car, I hope so. If not a 3rd car, maybe AJ will end up at Penske.
As far as going on who I like the most, I'd have to keep AJ. If going on who might get a win some, I'd have to go with Kurt.

Well said . I hope RPM is able to retain Best Buy as a full time sponsor. If not ..things could be tough for them.

ALL OF YOU are jumping the gun on this one. And so are MOST of the reporters. One of the reporters (don't remember which one) actually decided to do his job and talked to Kurt on the phone today. Kurt said he is shopping everyone for a ride. So he's basically talking to any team that will talk to him.

That makes sense for a desperate driver like him. At this point the former Champion is "begging" for a ride.

Last I heard RPM said they would add a third car for Kurt "IF" they can secure sponsorship. Dinger is most likely not losing his ride.

we'll see

so now we are at "my reporter is better than you reporter"

Pretty much. Too many reporters take a rumor and run with it. If you follow NASCAR on Twitter you know what I mean. That's why I wait for an "official" announcement before I believe what I read on Twitter. Saw lots of false reports on Twitter today.

If its truejust another reason to hate RPM for what they have done to my drivers.

Do you think Kahne would be better off at RPM than HMS?

Unrelated, for the love of whatever god you think is best, people, please come up with a newer insult than "keyboard warrior". It's been played.

I thought this thread was about a strategic fail/??
The Dinger got brought down a peg, and was reminded to not be so ****y,he never was a high caliber driver. Good move to bring KuBu to the 43 car.

No its more of they fired him for their cars being crap, disrespecting him.

But if AJ ends up in the 22, we will say that he and Kasey have moved it on up!

Here is a direct quote from Kurt today on Twitter:

"All of the rumors about what I'm doing has kept me laughing for days. I've heard everything to include me buying the Red Bull cars! LMAO!!"

I actually had thought about him starting his own team.

He responded to that question too, saying he definitely does not want to be a team owner.
Who would work for him?

If he thinks driving is worth hissy fits, Lord help us if he actually had to be somebody's boss...

And just imagine Kurt trying to convince potential sponsors that HIS company is the best option...

Kurt: "Listen motherf*ckers, I was ready to sign this ******* contract 10 minutes ago! You stupid asses need to realize who I am!!! I'm f*ckin Kurt Busch you losers! Get that f*ckin contract outta my face!"

You know the more I think about it this is really good for this sport. Kurt is an a**hole for sure, but he is a damn talented driver. With all the big teams being either full or he has burnt a bridge Kurt now has no choice, but to drive for a lesser team. I almost hope he ends up in the 51. While I wont be cheering for him I definitely will be cheering for Phoenix Racing. He could help out a small team actually grow and get better. I have no doubt in my mind if Kurt got into the 43 or 51 he could win.

I agree. That's why I'm not calling the teams going after him desperate. After all, how often do they get a chance to get a driver as good as Kurt? Like him or not he is a good driver.

Right on .You don't have to like him as a person to repect his talent.

No question about his ability - it's his stability that is the issue...

And the plot thickens.

Best Buy to sponsor Kenseth?: Roush Fenway Racing and #17-Matt Kenseth appear to be well on their way to securing the Best Buy sponsorship for 2012, according to sources familiar with the situation. The Roush organization has pledged to run Kenseth, the 2003 Cup champion, without sponsorship but has been working hard to find funding for the driver coming off a three-win season where he placed fourth in the Cup standings. Kenseth's primary sponsor Crown Royal opted not to sponsor a race team in 2012. Best Buy's sponsorship of #43-AJ Allmendinger at Richard Petty Motorsports was for 24 races in 2011. RPM has not announced any sponsorship for the #43 car for next season. An RPM spokesman said the team would have no comment on its sponsorship search.(http://www.scenedaily.com/news/articles/sprintcupseries/Best_Buy_leaning_toward_moving_sponsorship_to_Matt_Kenseth.html)(12-15-2011)

If Best Buy goes through with this it opens up another can of worms- will RFR bring Ragan back to run the #6 unsponsored or will Stenhouse or Bayne get the ride instead?

I doubt that you will see Ragan back.

That bridge has been burned at both ends.

If Roush has as much faith in Ragan as claimed, he should hire him back.

If KB is in the 43 car, I hope it runs without a sponsor.

They likely needed Kurt to try and save the Best Buy deal. He'll be going to a ride WITH a sponsor.

But then there will be nobody to boycott??????

I'm not a fan of boycotting sponsors. They keep the sport alive, literally. The teams and the sponsors need to hear that the fans will support them, just not with an ASS as a driver. That has to happen before contracts are signed. So if you hear of a team considering KuBu as their driver, let them know your thoughts. If enough fans complain they won't hire him.

You realize of course that by trying to screw some driver that you don't like ,that you are also screwing the team owner ,the crew , and all of the companies employees .Merry Christmas.

You do realize, of course, that Kurt Busch currently doesn't have a team owner, crew, or employees of said mystery team. I didn't screw Kurt Busch, he screwed himself. And he absolutely deserves it! Don't try to give me a guilt trip with your lame "Merry Christmas." Kurt earned this punishment. And guess what, Kurt HURT the lives of his crew because they don't even know if they have a job next season. We can "assume" they will but they still don't have a driver.

Don't be mad at me for pointing out the obvious. Be mad at Kurt for acting like a child in an adult's body.

Well whether it's with RPM or whoever, I hope Kurt is racing next year. I might be missing something (don't think I am though), but I have yet to see where Kurt did to much more than other drivers have done before him.
He's not the only driver to have it out with reporters. He's not the only driver to talk to his crew like ****. He's not the only driver to have it out with other drivers. He's not the only driver that has acted like an a**hole.

You are right, JM! Jimmy Spencer, Robby Gordon and Kevin Harvick come to mind as drivers who have berated their crews and debased the sport in one form or another. (Yes, some of the crews Kevin berated were employees of KHI, I know.)

Jimmy and Robby were fired - or not re-signed - and Harvick has deserved to be. I am sure that he has tested the patience of Richard more than once.

Kurt CAN drive. Nobody questions that. And he WILL drive again, no doubt. It may, or may not, be with a top-tier team at first.

We shall see...
