All Star Race ratings plummet 15%

I've seen some sites with comments from regular fans who said they were boycotting the race and nascar in general for putting stuff on a channel nobody got or some such.

Maybe the doggys were the only ones watching?

And that 2013 race, in which Patrick was the fan vote winner, was also down in numbers, although not to the tune of 15%

15% is a steep drop. Only a handful of races have had steep drops like this. They were races that were moved to cable, races that were moved to Saturday night and races that were delayed/postponed due to weather.

Gee, I am still panting over the crowd goes wild.o_O Despite the lower numbers, Nascar is the only thing that miserable excuse for a channel has worth watching. I hear from members in Canada that they are having to watch streams to see races. Same for members here that don't get FS2

Despite the lower numbers, NASCAR was still a much bigger draw for FS1 than its other programming. The network earned a mere 0.3 overnight for the Pirates/Yankees Major League Baseball game earlier in the day.

FOX moving so many MLB games to cable is killing them so far. I couldn't believe that.

Probably all those Kyle fans watching something else after he wrecked himself.Wait no after Bowyer wrecked him.

Why weren't all the new fans we were promised watching the race?
They were watching. Just using an online stream, the same as I was. Online streams have a chat box and it was flooded with reddit users asking about nascar & josh. Hell, the owner of the stream made the password "underdoge"

I don't get FS1 and most others don't either. We have to stream it online & ratings don't catch online streams. You old folks don't understand that paying for TV is ridiculous. As long as you have the internet, & you know where to look, you can stream anything live or recorded.

Yay freedom :salute:

Ah, so they were watching on pirated internet streams and taking money out of NASCAR and FOX's pockets? Some great fans they are.

Yeah sorry, majority of nascar's money does not come from cable subscribers & a channel that you bitch the most about. Try again.

FOX and NBC pay $820 million a year so we can watch NASCAR racing on TV. Shame that the Reddit crowd pirates races and takes money out of their pockets because they don't want to pay for cable. No wonder there are so many commercials. The Reddit/Dogecoin crowd must be Obama voters.

Try again Mike, I kept watching just to see Harvick lose a million bucks :D I was so happy

Hey BobbyFord, I think I have an idea who stole my car stereo now... must've been a Reddit user.
:D

I'm so sorry, I didn't hear what you were saying? Something about Harvick losing a million bucks?

@ChexOrWrex is correct though, the younger generations are less willing to get cable TV and instead are opting for Internet TV such as Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, etc. They're also watching sporting events on streams on their computers. Which I guess is why Comcast and TWC want to kill Net Neutrality, so that they can make a buck on this emerging trend. If NASCAR was smart (which they aren't), they would start streaming the race coverage on their website and charge a subscription fee. Hel, even I stream MRN and PRN on my computer.

FOX and NBC also picked up live streaming rights for their races starting next year. I figure it will work like WatchESPN/ESPN3 where you have to have a cable subscription to access the stream, though.

I'm familiar with that model, and that model will backfire on them. It won't solve the problem because people will still have one guy pay the subscription because they already have the cable subscription and them stream it for everyone else free of charge or for a donation. Honestly, they should follow Netflix model. Have one subscription for online content and one subscription for offline (DVD in case of Netflix) content. I'd be more than happy to pay for an online stream to NASCAR races, just as long as I don't need a cable subscription to access the stream.

NASCAR CAN and WILL shut down the pirated streams. Enjoy your fun while it lasts.

haha. Not going to happen. It's like playing wack a mole: Squash one site, and 4 others pop-up.

That being said, NASCAR just doesn't get what today's youth wants. You can see it in the TV ratings. I wouldn't expect that to change until the France's are done sucking the sport for every dollar they can.
