Oh boy, another wrench in for teams.

Okay, 'pass a 3' straight edge on most surfaces'?

I've never see a 3' straight edge get over 65mph, regardless of concrete or asphalt surface. Even RWR shouldn't have any problems passing one.

Or maybe I'm misunderstanding what this means?

Engineers are finding ways to play with the floor, possibly some grey area found and NASCAR is cracking down on it.

They'll find something else to mess with, but I'm more curious to think if the pecking order could possibly be altered due to this.

anyone know how ticket sales look? Last year it was packed which makes sense with it being the first time... but I'm curious how it'll look this year.

Last year Nashville was a really good race, so I'd hope the turnout would reflect that.

OTOH, there was a lot of news coverage about lawless behavior in Nashville just this past weekend, so that would make me feel uncomfortable being in that hotbed area, just sayin'.

Looking forward to the racing this weekend, the least interest that I have is in the Cup though. Trucks are a given for good racing, followed closely by the Sportsman... err... I mean, what ever they are called now.. Ixfinity.... but after seeing the show the Menard's series put on in Milwaukee, want to see that carried on in Nashville too.

uh oh. Is Nick a death bedder....... or if by some who desire, attendance plays a part in a market getting a race, did Nashville not even live long enough to see itself become the hero?

He's brutally honest.

Ticket sales, I think the president is OK with, so far. However, I feel in a combination with heat. Parking was a massive issue last year, the cooler and no loose ice policies have really been an issue.

To me a cooler is not a deal breaker, insulated backbacks with some ice packs would suffice. However, some feel its a massive deal breaker. With SMI owning Nashville Superspeedway, will it continue with I think next year being the last year on the calendar. I think the racing has to be on point and those policies will need to be revisted in the future.

Erik Moses is a great man, I'd hate to see him lose his position due to some hiccups. I'd hate to see this track turn into Kentucky 2.0. Nashville is a great market for the sport and to see it go away again... Man it would suck, but maybe this leads into the Fairgrounds getting a shake again?

We shall see.

I dont know the answer to your question, but I will say that my employer was offering discounted tickets to the race this weekend. That rarely happens for motorsports events where I work, ball games, sure, but not racing.

I get not wanting to pay the hefty price for beers at the track, but no major sports allow you to bring coolers and beer to a game, it's just the way it is. If you want cheap beers watch the race at home.

Bristol is 4 hours away from Nashville and Talladega is less than that. That was Nashville's downfall from the beginning (the beginning beginning 20 years ago). It's never going to draw well when you have what many consider the top 2 tracks in NASCAR that close. If I lived in the area and it was an hour to Nashville or 4 hours to Bristol I'm choosing Bristol. NASCAR fans are not like stick n ball fans.... they have campers, are not adverse to driving, and fans stay for 3-5 days for events, not 3-5 hours.

One of my favorite NASCAR commercials from the mid-00s was about the crazy fans. The imagery was two girls sticking a Kasey Khane sign out their car window as the narrator says "[NASCAR fans] drive 600 miles for a 500 mile race".

I'm probably not driving several hours to a race unless I can bring my own cooler. Getting up out of your seat and waiting in line at the concession stand really sucks. If some tracks allow coolers, all of them should IMO.

well said. I hope this track makes it, I hate to see a market as good as Nashville go away because of coolers. I get it from both sides, I've been to my fair share of hot CART, Indy Car, NASCAR and NHRA races.......there were times I was annoyed my dad would bring me because it was so very hot, not a fan of the heat. I sat under the underhang of the suites at Chicaogland when I took over our tickets because I was done roasting 60 rows up in turn 4, I didnt even care that the tickets were way more for my new seats, to get out of the heat was more than worth it. The service was always good at whatever track I was at, good workers, never ran out of water or food..... I was lucky. Hopefully they have a good crowd sunday with ample track workers and they dont run out of concessions for fans with a great race to boot. Not sure I'd want to sit in 100 degree weather for anything but to the fans going I hope they have a great time.

While I definitely prefer being able to bring in a small cooler, barring them won't stop me from attending. I usually hydrate well before the race, and my seat cushion has pouches that will hold a half-Subway and a couple of half-frozen bottles of water. That's really all I need.

Looks a lot like the same at Atlanta next month, and that place was pretty full in March. A couple of weeks to go, but still there’d have to be a pretty quick turnaround in sales to get anywhere close. TV doesn’t want to talk about it but we should really be rethinking racing summer afternoons in the South.

Atlanta has called me several times about buying tickets for the summer race. I have told the. I have no interest in attending the race on a hot summer day. Even if its a night, you still end up spending most of the day at the track in the heat. I am just to old now to do that.

Ditto for Darlington.

If you like grapes, they are a good option for thirst

Grapes can be frozen and tossed in a baggie. Keep them in the cooler in the car until you head in.

There are lots of ways to bring refreshments if you're not allowed to take a cooler in, although obviously having a cooler is the preferred solution.

This was my concern in post 14 of this thread. I was concerned that the novelty had already waned and with some questionable decisions from track on coolers and being in the heat of the day I suppose I'm not surprised, but it is concerning.

Time to memorize a new channel number, have no clue what channel USA Network is on, I know its in the 240's , it was nice, FS1 and NBCSN were right next to each other for me 219/220.
