Anyone else stoked for Rain tires next year for the road courses?

not only that, if they don't race in the rain how can they even be called the greatest anything. bunch of dry pavement neanderthal sissies is what they have been called.

I remember when every NASCAR fan bitched that "road courses were boring" because Earnhardt Sr. bitched about them. Now road racing is popular in NASCAR but people are still experts that wet racing sucks aside from the fact that F1 and IndyCar have raced in the rain since Junior Johnson was still running 'shine.

The last 10 laps of the 2001 CART race at Portland in the rain with Max Papis on old rain tires (this was after it had rained earlier and the track had tried out) and diving to find puddles to keep his tires cool while the field (who pitted under green to get slicks back on) chased him down on new tires was some of the most exciting racing I've ever seen. Oh wait, it wasn't a restrictor plate traffic jam so it was "boring".

Not really. It's one thing to be on dirt. It's another thing to be on wet pavement. It's rare for them to have rain in June at Sonoma. Watkins Glen gets some from time to time. But I like the racing better there as it is.

To my knowledge pretty much every other series races in the rain. As Ive said Im looking forward to it.

Your examples have nothing to do with 3,000 pound stock cars driven by guys who mostly have zero experience racing in the rain.

Every driver isnt a road course racer. With your logic they'd do away with road courses all together because most drivers are used to racing on circles.

all those drivers come up thru lower series for yrs .....racin in rain too. have experience w/ it.
bad cup idea imo......but we'll see.

does nothin ta solve rain delays on ovals tho. only "good " rain tires there are on titan II !
rain delays seems bigger problem these days than in past.
any stats on that ? over yrs .

These cars don't want to be on a road course, and they like it less in the wet. NO.
 
Kinda odd conversation really . It seems that not overdriving your car on a wet racetrack shows a driver has great skill , but not overdriving your racecar on a dry racetrack shows a driver is points racing and not going for the win.

Much easier to lose it on a wet track, takes great skill to be able to gauge where the car will break loose. Some drivers really shine on a wet track, some stink. Probably why there are so many negative posts, their particular driver stinks on a wet course. Points racing is because you don't have a fast enough car to go for the win so you do the best you can. But there in lies the rub. Is the driver getting all they can out of the car, or are they driving too conservatively?
