I remember when every NASCAR fan bitched that "road courses were boring" because Earnhardt Sr. bitched about them. Now road racing is popular in NASCAR but people are still experts that wet racing sucks aside from the fact that F1 and IndyCar have raced in the rain since Junior Johnson was still running 'shine.
The last 10 laps of the 2001 CART race at Portland in the rain with Max Papis on old rain tires (this was after it had rained earlier and the track had tried out) and diving to find puddles to keep his tires cool while the field (who pitted under green to get slicks back on) chased him down on new tires was some of the most exciting racing I've ever seen. Oh wait, it wasn't a restrictor plate traffic jam so it was "boring".
