I never was a big fan of Atlanta, but it is getting worse. Then they repave, and it gets horrible for 5 years.
Stockcar racing is at it's best at lower speeds and running on sticky tires.

That panasonic paint scheme is awful. Doesn't belong on a Jeff Gordon racecar.
I much preferred Atlanta's original configuration.

Instead, Bruton changes Bristol. I liked the multi-groove, but that went bye-bye real fast. Now it's turning into Bristol in reverse. The high line is the fast line.

Oh this place was awesome in the old configuration. They need to reverse it.

Atlanta's old configuration was a lot like the new Homestead. True oval with two sweeping, high banked corners. Abrasive surface so tire wear was an issue. Could run four different lines.
I AM a Kyle fan and it looked to me like he lost the rear and chased it up into Tony.
It was 1.5 miles, but a standard oval --- not a quad oval like now. Drivers were in the turns more than on the straights.
The backstretch used to be the frontstretch, and there was no quad-oval, just two regular straightaways.
