Attention NASCAR : Listen to your fans !

Where has it been proven NASCAR follows this place at all let alone for guidance?! Am I missing something?! If so....let me make my own thread for what I feel should be done to bring nascar back to its 80’s and 90’s “pinnacle”...
IDK, I am still trying to wrap my brain about the comment that "fins" will solve the aero problems, and Nitrous Oxide bottles for better passing..the thought of them being able to smoke the rears going down the straights at 180 plus would make for spectacular pile ups in the corners and Burton could have a field day with how many burps off of the bottle are left. Kyle could say once again that the passing sucks, the gimmickers and deathbedders would have plenty to say, and it sounds like we would all be happy. Let do it. The good ol days right?

I've missed the past couple of races, did they get rid of the parachutes off the back and the stage cautions yet?

No changes until everyone has saved up enough cash to buy approx 300 custom made center-lock wheels, front and rear hubs and the same number of new brake rotors.

The second order for spares in the haulers and the parts room goes in next month .... after current data is deleted and replaced with new figures for reduced unsprung weight and the sims, wind tunnel and shaker rig runs for every car in the fleet have been completed.

There’s really nothing to this racing stuff.

After-thought. The edit window was closed.

Will there be anything else? Perhaps an auto racing related comment?

WTH...I have followed NASCAR since the 60's and I have no idea why they still use lug nuts.

I don't get all you guys criticizing this thread/poster. Someone has taken the time to give their thoughts on NASCAR and provide thoughtful input to improve something we all like and you attack them like buzzards on a dead deer.
Personally, I didn't like his use of the phrase "YOUR FANS" in his title. He doesn't speak for all of us.

So instead we should have 4 pages of discussion about a female who won a K&N race?

And since we know NASCAR closely follows this site for guidance, I think any discussion about changes to the restart lineup should be highlighted for them.
At least that's something new. I admit it quickly went to Danicaland but at least it started fresh.

And when did NASCAR start paying attention to this electronic backwater?

See my response to Charlie above. Kind of thought nobody would have taken that seriously.

Sadly true. I would personally love it if NASCAR had a sanctioned event in Mississippi, and maybe one day it will happen...

but we would certainly hear the noise about the cars, the track characteristics, etc.

I thought ISC in the past year or 2 was looking at property to build in Mississippi for a short track.....................

Personally I think a race in New Orleans/Southern MS area along with Denver & Seattle/Portland are untapped markets.

How about the fact that Nascar mandates the data, throttle traces, braking, stuff like, that be shared among all teams. Do you think that is too much? I do. A drivers technique that he has developed over years of experience is given to every rookie and competitor, seems over the top to me.

Talk to Tony Formosa, Manager of Nashville fairgrounds, He lost an eye years back when he was a driver when he was in the pit area watching the race when a lug nut came off a race car and hit his eye.
I have never seen a wheel come off an Indy car because the ring nut came off.
If it were a problem, they could add a second "lock" ring . It still would be faster and safer than what they are doing now.
Yes I am a long time NASCAR fan. I have witnessed many accidents on pit road even fatalities. I watched when David Pearson lost both outside tires when he exited the pits because they crew did not put lug nuts on the car.
How many times have you heard drivers telling their crews they think one of the tires felt loose ?
Nascar more than likely has reports of lug nuts coming off cars and going into the stands, but its hard to get that info.
How many of you remember when there was no speed limit on pit road ? These cars came in hot !

In summary, I am not concerned with how long it takes to change tires as my overall idea is that the cars re-aline in the order they running when the caution came out. ( with the exception of 1) only taking fuel, 2) only taking 2 tires, 3) taking 4 tires, 5) making major body repairs ) I am concerned about some teams leaving lug nuts off or lug nuts loose.
I am concerned about cars crashing on pit road by trying to get in and out a split second faster than other teams.
Pit road was not built to race, there are pit crew men and officials that are at danger with the current system NASCAR uses and there is no reason for that.
Nascar has a rule that a driver can not pass during the yellow flag, ( caution) but they allow drivers to pass in the pit area by having a split second faster pit stop. NASCAR polices which drivers violate the rules about speeding entering and exiting pit road and I personally think they do not go a very good job. Just like Phantom cautions coming out that seem to benefit certain drivers.
These cars do not have speedometers, they rely on their tach and instead of staring at it they should be looking at whats happening in front of them. They are at highway speeds, 55 mph and just inches from pit crew members changing the outside tires.
Auto racing should be all about racing on the race track.
NASCAR use to brag about how races are won or lost in the pits !
That should tell you just how far they were off about auto racing.
I guess if you couldn't buy a seat that had a good view of the pit road that you were just out of luck.

NO, I do not have all the answers, but I do want to start having intelligent conversations about how to improve NASCAR.
Yes I believe I saw a race years ago when a NASCAR driver won a race by several laps. Oddly, it was exciting as during the race the top drivers were battling it out for the lead, really pushing those big block unrestricted motors until they started popping one after another. During the event the top drivers tried to back down the pace and some drivers that were lapped actually were getting their lap back by passing the leaders and coming back to challenge them. Just look back at "Chargin" Charlie Glotzbach, that is one driver that never backed off. I bet he blew up more motors than most of the top teams. With him in a race you had to push your car to keep up with him.
Today at most tracks, once a car gets out in clean air it is almost impossible to pass. Its freight train racing, Drivers that do try to pass get out of line and fall back at least 5 to 10 or more spots until they can get back in line.
Tracks usually have a preferred line, one that has better traction, and only the leader gets to choose which lane he wants to restart in. So the cars that are lined up in the slow lane are at a distinct disability.
Going to the Delaware Restart System that allows drivers to choose which lane they want to start in would be a great improvement. ( At least for all the drivers on the lead lap.)
Another rules should be that with 10 laps or less to the finish, caution flag laps should not count. If the caution comes out with 10 to go, if it takes 6 laps or what ever, to clean the track, the race will have 9 laps to go.
The Overtime rules is nothing but a 2 lap sprint to the finish and at many big tracks it takes a lap to get up to speed.
Green, White , Checkered is only two laps. You go on the green and the white lap is the last lap.
The Leader has a big advantage, that driver gets to decide when to take off, is the first to get in clean air and most of the cars behind him are side by side and losing time.
I still say that adding short front fins to the front fender to put more down force on the front panel will help the ability for cars to pass at speed.
I call NASCARS divisions the Grand National and The Sportsman division because their names change when new sponsors come in. So I am more accurate as sometimes I forget is it the Monster or Infinity series ?
Nascar needs to go back to weighing the car and driver together.
I would like to hear some intelligent discussion about these ideas or other ideas. I would hope NASCAR reads these ideas, and takes them into consideration.

Front fins are pretty common on dirt track cars and on Indy cars. It add more down force to the front panel, which gives more ability to pass. Currently NASCAR cars pick up a under steer, push, causing momentary loss of steering when pulling out from behind the leader so as to pass. The car in front gets the "clean" air which is a huge advantage.
Many people do not understand aerodynamics and down force. Years ago I cut foot long strips of yarn and taped them using duct tape to the front of my camaro . I put them across the front, and rear off my hood and front fenders. . On the highway they all were laid flat, but as I approached a semi, they starting rising. At one point I had them standing straight up in the air going 60 mph. As I closed in to the semi, the strips of yarn actually were going forward. The vacuum was pulling them straight towards the semi. Also you can take a clip board and hold it out your window, hold it flat and all is fine, start putting a little angle on it and it will start diving up or down, depending on the angle, even at 35 mph to 40 mph it will be hard to hold if you were to hold it straight up and down. It will pull your arm back back. I think Dale Sr must of done something like this as people said he could see air.
These invisible things actually exist at 35 to 55 mph, imagine what effects exist at 200 mph !

Race cars have been using Nitrous Oxide for years. I believe Indy Cars currently use it, as do Drag racers.
Teams should only be allowed a small bottle which can not be refilled or replaced during a race.
* Drivers do not normally use it in the corners.
With a limited supply one would only use it sparingly.
I would suggest not allowing its use when qualifying.
I think it has been used before in NASCAR with or without their knowledge.

I am always ready for a good Delaware Restart debate coming off a racing off week.

On most tracks one groove, or lane is preferred by most drivers. If you are the Leader you will pick that lane, the 2nd driver in line may have raced his butt off to get there but now he will have to start in the "bad" lane, The 3rd place driver gets a break and starts behind the leader in the good lane, the 4th place driver is forced into the slow lane. This is most apparent at the short tracks. It is not uncommon to see the 2nd place driver lose 4, 5, 6 or more positions before the driver can slip into the good lane.
With the Delaware Double file restart, the drivers get to choose which lane they want, If for instance the inside lane is the preferred lane, the leader will pick it, but now the 2nd place driver can start behind the leader in the good lane.
What is so fun is that the 3rd place driver may want to start there as well, now the 4th place driver can decide to start 4th in line in the good lane or on the outside of the leader on the front row.
It's a more way to restart a race.
I think this should apply to the cars on the lead lap and those others have to fill in as needed.
Many racing associations have gone to this type of restart system, and it's past time for NASCAR to implement it.

All Star Race experiment?

... with nitrous and only on tracks located in Delaware

I am not saying I have all the answers nor do I say that I am right, just throwing out some ideas that may make NASCAR more popular than what it is now.

It looks like the fans calling for Daytona to become part of the Championship play offs may be coming true with the Fire crack 400 moving from Daytona.
I have been discussing why NASCAR has different sets of rules for the Monster (Grand National) Infinity (Sportsman), and ARCA when NASCAR believes that the least expensive cars are as safe on the Super Speedways as the more expensive cars.
Nascar is competing against it's self and has those 3 divisions plus a truck series which lessens the over-all competition.
I suppose they do that so as to guarantee the Super Big Time sponsors that their cars will be guaranteed to have a starting position.
Nascar has come down to where its more about the car than the drivers skill, and that is a shame.
It's who can afford to spend the most money to win a race.
Now it is true that teams have to spend some money to be competitive but like most racing, the costs of building, maintaining and campaigning a car have gotten totally out of control.
Ned Jarrett won a Championship with only a new car, last years car, a garage with a dirt floor and one full time mechanic that he paid $50.00 a week, this comes from a story I heard him tell on TV.
I believe I read where Lee Petty once won a race on a Super Speedway using only one set of tires.
Someone please tell me what the price of a Nascar Monster series super speedway tire costs and how many sets did the winner of this years 500 use ? Counting practice and all that stuff, how much was their tire bill ? How much did it pay to win ?
NASCAR MUST start reducing the costs of racing, they are the only ones that can do that as they make the rules.
Is it true NASCAR gets a slice of the tire pie ? If so, then the more tires that are used the better !
Again, if an ARCA car is safe to run the big Super Speedways why allow more expensive cars ?
Nascar could go back to running a Sportsman race the day ( or night ) before the Grand National race.
The teams that are in the top 25 in Nascar Grand National points should be guaranteed a starting spot in the Grand National race along with several promoters options and other the top finishing cars from the Sportsman race a chance to be added to the tail.
I would love to see the field go back to at least 43 cars.

Once again you assume you’re speaking for all fans. You’re not.

Oh, and the top 25 teams in the Cup series are already guaranteed starting spots. The top 36, actually. NASCAR still runs a supporting race the day before the Cup race; sometimes two.

Now that we’ve straightened out the facts, Cup cars cost more than ARCA cars because the extra money is spent to make them go faster, not to make them any safer.

For the most part, most of NASCAR Monster Energy series, former Grand Nationals,
1) are 3,4, 5, and sometimes longer bor-a-thons.
2) Nascar brags about races being won in the pits by one team having a split second faster pit stop. In the past it was due to crews either leaving some lug nuts loose, or just leaving them off. The pits area was never built for racing, crews are just inches away from cars doing 55 mph. NASCAR is endangering crew members lives.
It also appears to me that some drivers do not get caught speeding on pit road when it sure looks like they are going faster than the other cars around them.
3) Phantom Caution flag laps that seem to benefit certain drivers and teams.
4) Terrible announcers
5) Too much time watching the leader way out front while other cars are racing side by side for positions.
6) The new drivers are shrinking, they are getting shorter and lighter because Nascar weighs the cars without the drivers, meaning the lightest drivers get an advantage.
7) These cars with the wraps look terrible. Look at the popularity of the throw back paint schemes.
8) Freight train racing, The car rules are getting better but still these cars spend too much time in the wind tunnel. Aerodynamics allows the lead car a huge advantage. Drivers are afraid to get the slightest ding in their car at the super speedways as it will slow them down. Not enough passing for the lead, most lead changes come from cars pitting and giving up the lead.
9) Unfair restarts, usually a track will have a preferred lane ( groove) either the inside or outside, a driver that is running 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, etc are all forced into the slower lane. Nascar needs to go to the Delaware Restart System and allow cars on the lead lap to decide in order which lane they want to start in.
10) Lower car counts. Go back to at least 43 car fields, even if it means allowing some Start and Park teams that are under financed and are trying to get some experience .
11) Tires are playing too big a role in racing, Nascar needs to limit the number of tires a team can use during a race, tire management would be more important than the ability to buy more tires than anyone else.
Once a tire is produced it starts aging and getting harder, deciding which teams gets the newest, freshest, softest made tires is a huge advantage and an unfair advantage.

WE have to keep saying it over and over until NASCAR listens to us !
1) Delaware restart System.
2) Under caution , cars line up in the order they were on the track before pitting, with these exceptions, gas only, 2 tire changes, 4 tire changes.
Cars staying out get the first choices, then in order of how they were running before caution, teams taking gas only, 2 tires, then 4 tires.
3) weigh cars with driver.
4) With less than 10 laps to go, laps do not count, and they will be a 3 lap finish, not a 2 lap finish, green, white checker, is only two laps and at the bigger tracks it often takes 2 laps to get up to speed.
5) Cars that do not pass post race tech have the win taken away from them.
6) Give teams a choice of motor sizes, add a little more weight for the bigger motors.

Throwback “paint” schemes are wrapped.
* Wraps made to look like cars that did not have wraps.
Do you know what a durometer is?
* Yes I do, are you saying all tires are exactly the same, no variance what so ever ? NASCAR has stated that sometimes it takes months to build the tires for certain tracks, are you saying you would prefer the oldest ones? I'll take the freshest. I once made a trip with the local Hoosier tire distributor in Louisville to Indy and purchased a set of 4 tires for a certain driver, even though the speed shop had lots of tires. Why I asked, a big paying race was coming up and the local star driver wanted "fresh" tires . What would you think about that ?
Thank you reading and replying .
I am not complaining, I am just being honest.

@Danny Ray Bennett didnt you just make a thread like this about 2 weeks ago and then another like that one a few weeks before that? Comeon dude you’re clogging up the page to say 5 different variations of the same thing.

Short sawed off type drivers should stick with racing in the midget race cars that was designed for them.
heck yeah drivers by weight class like boxing..yeah hey Brian? anybody seen Brian lately? can we make Nascar more like boxing..we need rounds and heavy weights.
