Bonehead: Montreal/Michigan

Whoever threw the shoe onto the track. Whether you are a Danica hater or not, throwing **** on to the track is not good.

I agree. You have to be pretty retarded to throw something on the racetrack. It amazes me that the person who threw was smart enough to take the other one off to not get caught.:)

Turns out it was a homeless guy with a weak arm moving to a new location.

For the uninformed:

Keselowski's comments focused around the mechanical advantage which the Hendrick cars seem to have discovered. Since June, competitors have been talking about the rear ends of cars like Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr., which seem to be moving around.
NASCAR put one rule in place to address the issue, but drivers said at Indianapolis it did nothing to weaken the Hendrick cars' performance. On Sunday, Keselowski shed more light on the situation.
"There's parts and pieces on the car that are moving after inspection that make the car more competitive," he said. "Some guys have it, some don't. There's a question to the interpretation of the rule. Penske Racing errs on the safe side because we don't want to be the guys that get the big penalty."

Kez isn't accusing anyone of cheating, but pointing out how HMS got around the new rules and are still past the limits when the cars are racing. NASCAR obviously doesn't care, because no HMS car went to tech. I think Brad just wants a ruling from NASCAR so Penske can use the feature.

Well these comments just show that Brad is officially a Fo*d guy now. The Fo*d camp has never been able to accept that some guys just drive harder. Sure it helps having 35 championships and 698 wins behind you, but hey, who's counting anyway. ;)

 Chevy drones...

Brads frustration with Penske is showing. His answer about not getting a chance at a HMS ride said it all.

For sure...drove the valve train right out of it.

Well to be honest, I was stunned that they had what amounted to a concrete spear right there in a spot where one could expect trouble.

I have to give the "bonehead" to MIS for dang near getting Mark Martin killed...or at least assisting. How could a track safety officer not see that there was a danger there? All they had to do was make the concrete slope around in a curve to where it was wider and more blunt. Safety in racing is never 100%...but that was obviously a danger.

No doubt, the idiot that threw the shoe is the bonehead of the week. You have to be a complete moron to do that.

I totally agree, there's no reason for that and those ain't race fans. NASCAR does have to figure something out with exposed edges of the wall openings. That was at pretty low speed and the car was no match for it. It sheared the left rail and just a foot or so further up I'd hate to see the outcome. Water barrels or something to correct it on pit road would probably work. Looking at this pic you can see how far the wall travels into the car. Glad Mark is okay and the pit guys.

Yeah, I agree with most of you on that.

Also, how about the Cup Official who threw pieces of Mark's car into his car and on the driver's seat as it was being towed away? He got scolded by a nearby crew member who dropped an F-bomb on live tv. And deservedly so. Not cool, man.

My final vote goes to Bobby Labonte. Sure thing win for Mark Martin and Labonte waits like eight years to race hard against other drivers when he's going a lap down?

Keep in mind that the wall went into the car that far because there is really nothing in that part of the car to stop it. I'm not convinced the wall would have been in Mark's side as everyone seems to think. On the other hand, it could have been really bad.

They should change something for sure.

I suspect that had it been JV that hit that shoe, the thrower would be receiving some high praise by many people.

So if the shoe had that big an impact on the race then the BH goes to Patrick for not swerving around it.

I was thinkin the same thing . The door area is full of steel roll bars as well as the seat is designed for impact . It did look real bad because there is no protection there . Glad he was ok and expect that the track will do something about that opening .
