My bonehead of the week is for everyone, except for those that didn't crash. Crash fests in both races and NASCAR not being pro-active with weather approaching and allowing 20+ cars to crash on a wet track. As Ken Schrader once said, "when you hit the race track, it's your fault." So, it's everyone's fault.

Yeah, because the entire pack wrecking from rain makes them idiots

I know accidents happen, but I gotta give it to NASCAR. That cell didn't come out of nowhere. It was lingering right outside of turn 1 for several minutes. I would have been perfectly fine if they threw the yellow out of an abundance of caution. I think it's always best to be safe rather than sorry.

I remember going to the Powerboat Nationals here in town a couple years ago. I kept looking at the radar with storms approaching and a clearly visible gust front headed our way. The boats kept on racing despite that and as soon as that gust front hit, it caused one boat to violently blowover. Thankfully the driver was okay, but it shouldn't have happened and neither should have the Daytona crash.

You live and you learn I suppose.

NASCAR was truly in a no win situation. If they throw the caution before it actually started raining, many would see it as a favor to whatever car was leading at that moment. NASCAR was going to get slammed on this one no matter what they did.
There's video from the stands of it raining pretty hard while field was coming off 2 the previous lap. But, Scott Miller said the spotter in the turn didn't relay rain so... This video is pretty damning.

Lets just quit racing when Rain is within 8 miles of the track like with Lightning strikes.

Just SOP for Dillion, for him to win he has to wreck or knock someone out of the way or fuel mileage. Plus he gets a pass for shiity racing from the Gerbals.
I thought after last week we decided you do what you have to do to win........

NASCAR, for not putting out the yellow before they got to turn one - see video above!
I have been VERY concerned lately about the competence of the NASCAR track spotters. They seem to be out of touch with what is happening right in front of them. The tower is only going off the information they are getting. Like computers, garbage in, garbage out.

Depends on the track spotters position, he may have been located further down and didnt see the shower when it hit

I've got 2 boneheads

1. NASCAR for their failure yet again to stop racing when rain is hitting a race track. Happened at New Hampshire in 2021 as well.
2. Austin Dillon for his WWE entertainment move, in not even attempting to race the 2 car, and just shove him out of the way

Then maybe there just is not enough of them, especially at the big tracks. The video seemed to indicate it was raining more than in one tiny spot.

Then maybe they’ll look into it that’s why they have meetings.
