Bonehead of the Week: DAYTONA

I would say nobody, I am not sure why anyone has a problem with this race it was great all around, big wrecks happen thats just racing, and the plates are not a problem if Kyle wrecked last night without a plate he would of killed himself and about 20 fans in the front row,but he wouldn't of wrecked without plates cause Tony would of been 3 seconds ahead at the end(which would of been real exciting). The big one always happens oh well its racing, and Dale Jr was estactic he didn't have to race anymore the rest of the night, you guys see how happy he was to be done for the night.

I'll say it here, too

Plates don't drive the cars. Drivers are behind the steering with gas/brake pedals at their feet.

The drivers make the choices --- the cars just do what they are told.

Did you watch that wreck? That was 100% Jamie McMurray's fault.

Oh I know it wasn't his fault, Juniors wreck wasn't his false either. I was saying it for their seasons. Speed has had 5 consecutive 30th+ place finishes right now (I know hes a rookie but he seems to be getting worse every week instead of better)

You're right. Finishing worse than 30th is worse than not qualifying for the race.

Strange, I didn't hear all of the Kyle bashers call Carl Edwards every name in the book when he blocked Kez at Talladega. Y'all were blaming NASCAR back then.

So everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Just because you don't agree with them don't mean they are wrong.

Kyle Busch again this week. Blocking once is OK. Block twice, and don't cry when you get turned.

Besides, this isn't Talladega where you can get a good run through the tri-oval on the outside. If Kyle had just hugged the yellow line going into the tri-oval, he had this race won.

Instead, he made a poor choice to try and block for the win.

You know, I was thinkin bout this, and the comparisons some have made of Bush and Earnhardt Sr...... Granted bush has alot of talent and possibly even more potential, and he can be an absolute...... well, uhm..... not a nice loser, and even worse interview..... so yea, there can be SOME comparisons made. But I think the incident shows the main difference between the two..... if that had been SR, when Tony rooted him out of the groove, then jumped to the outside, Sr would have waited that half second, let Tony get further along side of him, then door slammed, pushed him up to the wall, maybe even into the wall, and woulda won the race. Then in victory lane he woulda said some funny lil quip about playin with the big boys, or kerosene rags, or some such, gave that lil smirk, and the place woulda went wild.
Instead, we get the image of a spoiled kid, who didn't get his way, pouting, fussin at officials, and a big no comment.........
So yea, I would have to say bonehead move goes to Kyle, he still coulda, and probably woulda won if he hadn't made that second move. he is still a move or two behind sometimes in strategy........

My thing is, if the roles were reversed (i.e. Loudon last week), everyone would say he should've backed off.

Just click on the 2 at the top of the screen and you'll find out how it works both ways when it comes to Shrub.;)

Or Dale would of got wrecked just like Kyle, got of the car kicked a reporter and say something like "what do you mean, that was allowed" Dale Sr was a big crybaby too when something happened to him, don't act like Sr never pouted when something didn't go his way, which is why Dale normally got his way

Strange, I didn't hear all of the Kyle bashers call Carl Edwards every name in the book when he blocked Kez at Talladega. Y'all were blaming NASCAR back then.

Maybe because Carl was man enough to say it was totally his fault. He apologized. He even made fun of himself by running to the finish line and jumping on it.

What did Kyle do? Hmmmm... oh yeah, he fought the officials on the track who were trying to take him to the infield care center which is a rule after an accident.

Ok, so I know this sadistic. :D

I was just thinking about how Tony's car would have looked with that creepy Burger King guy's face on the hood.

And the look on Kyle's face if he could see the King's face as he was spinning to the side.

Sort of like those sick King commercials that you see with the wake up calls?

Looking at him in that video it looks like he has no idea what was going on anyway. Im not a fan but ive been waiting to hear if he had any problems after the wreck cause he looked like he was drunk or something in a few pictures.

never said Dale wouldn't have........ if ya look at my first part of the post, the comparison I was drawing was on that as well. we al know Dale would raise cain if things went against him, but then again, that was part of the appeal......... if he had have gotten wrecked, everyone woulda waited with baited breath to see what smart alleck comment he woulda given, and ticket sales for the next race woulda skyrocketed, cause they knew it wasnt over..... Dale would payback. withKyle, there is no style....... no sense of "you done messed up now, and I don't care what nobody says, it's comin....." with kyle, its a spoiled hissy fit, and the fans are left arguin all week.........

I just personally think that Dale woulda done somethin differnt than throw that second block, and it would have involved more than just him ( yea, I know, alot of cars were involved in Kyles deal too, but I think ya know where I'm goin with this....)

I don't know if I can find the video again but over on YouTube they show where the King reached from the back seat and jerked Tony's steering wheel so that he would hit Kyle. Rumor is Kyle is more of a Clown fan.

It was funny on the 1st BK commercial and KP thought it was really Tony saying he had problems before they showed the King in the back seat. He said he looked over and realized that who ever wasn't talking to Tony. That was hilarious.

Yeah I know Dale didn't let begones be begones,Nascar is different nowadays though Kyle can't come right out and say "Tonys gonna get his" they would suspended him the next race if they thought their was gonna be backlash.

I guess I missed the hissy fit?........

This is why Kyle is in a lose/lose situation every week, its always his fault,he makes no comment and is being called a whiner for saying nothing?

But Kyle would be in a better situation if he would gather his thoughts for 5 minutes and CALMLY talk to the reporters. It's a good thing to go on record when you make a mistake and say you are sorry once in a while.

Yeah but he did that at New Hampshire and was still ripped apart

It dont really matter........Kyle is ALL people are talking about , so in the end he really is the most popular driver out there..........for a number of different reasons,......but the most discussed none the less

Exactly.

It doesn't matter what Kyle says or does, the media's and the haters are going to be pissed. A lot like a Governor being discussed in another thread. The difference is Kyle can take it, and he actually produces results to show he belongs. :beerbang:

The difference is Kyle can take it,

If Kyle could take it he wouldn't run off crying like a baby who got his sucker taken away from him to his motorhome when everything doesn't go his way.

and thanks for that comment Andy I needed a good laugh.

Exactly when did the bandwagon go by your house anyways?

AGAIN, I ask: Why is it acceptable when other drivers refuse to comment and go to their motor homes or leave the track?

But we all ready know the answer to that question.

Most drivers may do this maybe once a year at best. Baby Busch does it every time he doesn't win. Big difference.

Oh really?

Every time?

That wasn't Kyle Busch they interviewed after the Nationwide race on Friday Night?

So everyone was wrong to be pissed off when he said "that's what we come here to do" when he finished 2nd at Kentucky?

Must've been Kurt. :sarcasm:

Ok , he stuck around for an interview once. I guess if something happens often enough, it seems like everytime. My point is, he could at least stick around long enough to give a decent interview and show people he's man enough not to take his ball and go home when things don't go his way. IMO this is why most people are "haters", not because of the driving habits of KB. Even 19 y/o Joey Logano can show more maturity than him.

Let me guess, Little E fan?

Don't hate the player, hate the game!!!

Do you want me to go to YouTube to show you some of the snarky comments Big E made when he didn't win or things didn't go his way?

And if y'all are offended by Shrub, I hope you don't go to the pits at your local racetrack because those boys will make you cry!

If Kyle drove a black car, had a mustache and wore goofy looking goggles, everyone who hates him now would worship him.

You got me. I guess I'm outwitted.:sarcasm:

I've watched many races when Dale didn't have things go his way. But you proved my point for me. He actually talked to the media about them. I would think as an esteemed member of the media, you would want drivers to give interviews. Or maybe you already know everything there is to know.

I would think as an esteemed member of the media, you would want drivers to give interviews.

And if a driver doesn't give me an interview because they're unhappy with something on track, I'm not going to make a big fuss about it like ESPeeN and FOX do.

Just about ev.... scratch that, EVERY TIME a driver has told me they don't want to talk about it or go on the record, they'll give a brief explanation why and I won't run it if they don't want me to.

However, based off what I've seen in Washington and on ESPN, they don't teach mutual respect, integrity, ethics or professionalism in journalism or communications classes anymore.

And I'd be willing to bet every time Kyle's turned down an interview, he or his PR rep have given ESPN an explanation of some kind.

Sounds like classes you excelled in. with the exception of mutual respect or integrity.
