Bonehead of the Week: Dover

Was going to say NASCAR for the overtime line and not completely cleaning the track until I heard about the catch fence climber.

I've got to go with the catch fence climber.
 
MTJ for racing like an a**hole, Larson for spinning his old tires during winning time, The 18's rear tire changer for forgetting to swap directions on the gun, Blaney for snapping more axles, etc..



Ultimately, it's gotta be the a**hole who climbed the fence. What a bonehead,
 
Goodyear, Talladega, Joey Logano and the media are all the boneheads this week.

I thought they should have stopped the race when it became clear it was going to take sometime to get the car and resulting debris off the track.

I still think that the two lap overtime is a joke - Better off ending the race on a caution than deciding a race on just who happens to get the best restart at the end.
 
I'll go with the overtime line or who ever came up with it. Have always thought that they should wait until after the white flag instead of the green.
 
Yeah green white checker becomes but if blah blah..everybody watching the race knew something like that was going to happen. Doesn't give the survivors a chance to improve their position either. That used to add a whole lot to the thrill of victory or the agony of defeat. In a small way it also creates what they got rid of years ago and that was racing to the the line during a wreck. They had quite a bit of time before they flew the yellow. a lot of them didn't lift when they started wrecking.
 
Jr gets the Hamlin excellence in pitting award if nothing else. He screwed himself unlike Kurt who took out at least a couple of good race cars. IDK might have taken out Boyer, or was that his group that didn't have something tight..at any rate Bad luck for Boyer.. possible boneheading going on there.
 
Kyle's tire changer gets the award as you take a car that has been fast all weekend, wins the pole and ruin it with carelessness. Of course the air gun may have just had bad genes in which case we blame it on God or maybe Karma has had it with Kyle.

If Alan doesn't win with Chase this year I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a swap, sticking Alan with Bowman next year possibly. Really don't want to see that happen.

I was surprised to see how well some drivers did when they came to cup with their Xfinity CC.
 
One has to chuckle.

Suggest Hendrick puts cars on the track that aren’t equal and the faithful call it ridiculous. “’Rick’ would never do that.”

Suggest the crew chiefs with Earnhardt, Junior ‘n Kahne are good but working with drivers of limited ability and you’re (your for our special friends) a hater/idiot. “’Hendricks’ ain’t doin’ Joonyer right with that guy on the box. He’s an idiot!”

Well sure. Not saying the CC is solely to blame for Dale's struggles. They would've finished top 10 if he didn't speed on pit road. But can't argue that the cars for the most part haven't been fast this year. The pairing just isn't working at the moment.

Honestly, I think HMS could stand to shake up their CC pairings on all three teams other than the 48.

Ives has a history with Chase in Xfinity. Seems like a good fit to me. Alan builds solid cars and could probably at least get Dale running top 10.

No doubt that 2018 will bring changes across the board.

NASCAR for not cleaning up oil dry on the backstretch which led to a pile-up.

They even added a lap to the caution for that specific reason but didn't actually do anything about it.

I'm not sure why they haven't tried this both teams stink! Unless Jr said no way to Rodden. An example of Roddens expertise the 5 team had a set of stickers when the race was over, wonder what he was thinking when Truex blew by on his way to a third place finish.

Alan does build fast cars, might be the boss thinks Alan is with the better driver.?

This is why it's in Chase's best interest to keep them paired. A lot of people thought it was a huge mistake going into last year, myself included, but they have been stellar together and have done everything short of winning. But they're bringing fast cars to the track every week so that will come in due time.

I will be pretty pissed if they make that switch
