BREAKING: Carl Edwards to JGR

You are not a hater--and I believe that, but why are you miffed that Toyota came into the sport?--just because of your collectables? Any insinuation that Kyle Busch is not good for kids for any reason is complete bull****. Sorry. His Foundation does amazing work for underprivileged children, and Kyle himself has a passion for helping kids. For God's sake, Gordon is feeding hungry kids in Africa, and he puts Clint into the wall. Kyle Effect.
I actually lold at this. I once asked my dad how I became a Gordon fan. He said bc he knew Gordon was a good racer & a great role model. Doesnt talk crap. Doesnt start crap. Keeps it on the track. So he made me pay attention to him & I became a fan.

Kyle on the other hand is a snot nosed racer with no respect for anyone but himself. He will drive thru anyone just for the hell of it. You never know what will come out of the man's mouth. Sure he has foundations for kids but what celeb doesnt? He needs to back up his contributions to kids on the track. Kids are watching the race, not charity documentaries.

YEP.

It hasn't recovered one point since toyota has been in the sport and I don't think it ever will, championships or not. Also It's not one card It's many high end cards from all of the toyota drivers past and present with one exception. Tony Stewarts has recovered since he dumped toyota. I'm not a toyota hater and I don't care why the prices and the respect for the toyota drivers has dropped in the toilet but understandably I am a little miffed at the result of them coming into the sport. I am however glad to hear that kybu may be losing his connection to kids via the mars sponsorship because I think he stinks as a role model. Again, I don't hate kybu, toyota or anything but I have my opinions.
I actually don't disagree with you that Toyota's involvement in NASCAR has probably driven some fans away. For some people, it's just not acceptable that they're there and it never will be. However, I think it's a smaller piece of a bigger problem. I think problems such as too many look-alike tracks, Cup driver domination in lower series', championship formats that seem to lose legitimacy with each passing year, commercial-laden TV coverage, fake debris cautions, and just the general shorter attention span of the younger generation have as much or more to do with NASCAR's declining numbers over the last decade than Toyota's presence does.

I am not surprised by M&Ms sponsoring Carl. To be honest, I didnt think M&Ms were going to be with JGR much longer anyway. They can burn off the remainder of their commitment to JGR, just with Carl instead of Kyle, and then latch onto one of the Dillons, Larson, Blaney, Elliott, or Kwasniewski, which is what I thought would happen all long and was kind of to be expected with all of these good young drivers making their way to the Cup series.

I believe that the only role models kids have are their families. Kids should watch the racing, and be taught that it is what it is. Just because a guy looks squeaky clean doesn't mean he is, and just because a guy doesn't look squeaky clean doesn't mean is isn't.

Sometimes looking like a badass is much more important than actually being a badass. You can be an english literature professor with a lisp and brittle bond disease, but if you pull up to a country club in a t top transam blaring Eddie Money, wearing a bandana, cowboy boots, Skynard shirt and sleveless denim vest, and some cut up jeans...people are going to GTFO of your way and get quiet when you walk by.

Carl probably doesn't very often. I've learned about nutrition a lot since I was diagnosed with T1 diabetes a month ago or 6 weeks ago. Even if you want carbs for energy for exercising, candy is a crap one because your body has to eat through a lot of needless fat and cholesterol.

No question man, and I totally respect where you are coming from, but I think even the Mars people wouldn't recommend eating M&M's in moderation. Carl will follow suit. Not an issue for him to be sponsored by Mars.

I don't think it's an issue. I think it's akin to something like Brad Keselowski going to drive the Budweiser car after years of driving the Miller Lite car. Just a slight change in image. I don't fault Carl for doing what he has to do and M&Ms gets a good face and spokesperson as a driver.

...and healthy people can't eat candy? Oh ****.

Good point at least for commercials. He only would need to eat a few for photo ops, and a healthy representative almost always is the better sales pitch.

If an out of shape obese person was representing M&Ms, it would confirm a message that is negative.

I also think Kyle is more of a Monster energy type rep, and Carl is better at pitching a product for kids. Carl can play the Mr Rogers it is a wonderful day in the neighborhood thing better than Kyle.

Yall do understand that none of these drivers are loyal to their sponsors products? They just endorse whoever pays them to do so.

Does this mean Denny will be the 4th guy on the JGR totem pole? If so, that would also be nice to see haha.

Hamlin's contract was set to expire in 2013, in June 2012 he signed a extension that he says is for 'a long time'. Now the question is how long is a 'long time'? I'm guessing it's for 3 years, come 2016 I see him gone from JGR. He really wasn't setting the nascar world on fire before his injury last year. I don't see the fire in him anymore.

In another post there was mention of the new guys and sponsors. I think Chase Elliot and NAPA are going to be together for a very long time.

This face just screams gtfo my way :lol2:

Drink it while I can....I have a feeling that Kyle may be on the move for 2016. His contract runs through 2015. Hmmmm.

I think Kyle will be with JGR for the rest of his driving career. The only exception that wouldn't surprise me would be MWR.

Not trying to trash the Buschs, but I doubt that any other big players would outbid JGR.
HMS, SHR, RCR, Penske, or Roush might even have him on the No list. Even with an attached sponsor I am thinking they would have some reservations. All while JGR has remained loyal and committed to Kyle. I think he stays put.

you never know what Gene Hass would do. but i'm like you, i think he's where he'll always be. as long as he doesn't go to overboard, like being parked by nascar or losing all sponsorship

RFR is about to become more irrelevant than RCR without Harvick. I wonder how much longer Fenway Sports Group is going to be a part of the team.

Jack might as well just turn that place into a museum. It would be a lot cheaper than trying to supply cars for Trevor Bayne and Ricky Stenhouse..

Kyle Busch has his moments, but on the whole I dont think he has been too out of line. Really, he wouldnt have been out of place at all in the 80s or 90s, just kind of sticks out in this new generation of squeaky clean drivers.

I think Kyle will move on from JGR. He has it made there, because Joe does put up with his crap, but it is obvious he isn't happy there. Or at least happy in his current situation. I could see him taking a Tony Stewart like deal with a smaller team. Maybe with MWR or Petty. Especially if he has Monster in his back pocket.

It is just his Brat like nature that rubs people the wrong way. He can dish it, but can't take the dishing back. Drivers like Tony and Harvick have been known to be brattish here and there, but I think also have some humility. If Kyle can loosen up and show some humility I think it could go a long way. It has worked so far for his brother who just three years ago most, including me, couldn't stand.

Who cares????, just another loser on the Toyletta Highway. Can't send him to the glue factory.:D

This was one of the worst kept secrets in the garage. Weeks old. I can't believe it took this long to gain major traction. I know the typical collection of NASCAR reporters are awful at investigative reporting, but didn't think they were this bad. It's not a done deal yet...so maybe everyone was waiting for when and if.

O JGR you make it easier and easier to keep disliking you. Thank god fake mr nice guy didn't end up at Penske. Roush looking pretty bare going forward

That's what I wonder about, also. Carl and his workout vids and pushing candy?

I get what you are saying, but everything in moderation......Carl can easily pitch a few M&M's in the context of a healthy lifestyle just as Harvick can talk about drinking some Buds without advocating alcoholism IMO.

Carl being a workout freak & possibly being sponsored by candy is not an issue. Thats like saying brad keselowski isnt an alcoholic but he's sponsored by miller, so thats unjust.

Once again, carl would pop a few m&ms per commercial. Its not going to kill him. There are cheat days in diets that are worse than this. Do you think Subway is healthy? Ha!

Carl Edwards would endorse Subaru & Fatty McFat BBQ if they paid him.

If you are bad mouthing the Mc Rib them are fighting words boy...

And how often does old Carl actually eat at Subway?
Bread+lettuce isn't actually health food, you know.

He'll go where the money is. M&Ms has the money.

If this is true I better hurry and sell all of my high end Carl Edwards collectibles before they're worthless like what happened with all of the other drivers that went to toyo. Within a month of a driver going to toyo a one of a kind card worth $300 drops to $20. This is fact not speculation and easy to prove with research.
I like Toyota rather see a Toyota win than a GM(Government Motors) win. They build BMW, VW, and Mercedes now in the US will NA$CAR let those brands come into NA$CAR now?

That motorsport.com article did make a good point. Edwards is this super ripped health conscious guy and he's going to promote a candy company? Hmmmmm.

Will Edwards say that M&Ms are a "sometimes snack"?

moderation is the key.:D
