Bristol Race thread (Cup)

Didn't you spend most of it outside, so how can you judge what you didn't see?

I dind't miss anything, watched the first 150 laps and the last 55, tell me the laps that I missed were any different than what I watched?

...I completely enjoyed the race today. I hesitated to step away from the TV a few times but I have a project in the shop I am trying to finish up.

Yeah Smoke14, I guess to be fair I have to agree. I just wanted to see a few more fireworks on the track. It doesn't seem right to see a Bristol race go that many laps caution free to the end.

Kyle kicked ass again. It sounds like you caught that part, no worries about what you missed.

I don't think he ever had a top 10 car. Took 2 tires and went straight back. That was the only time he sniffed the front.

Yeah...as I was typing that I thought I should say he gave away a top fifteen finish - but then him coming in 19th it didn't sound like much of a point. I just get frustrated with him when he doesn't maximize points on an off day.

It was obvious from the start he had the strongest car and that if he stayed out of trouble he would win.

This has to be the most empty seats I've seen at Bristol in years.
Seems even the mighty Bullring is not immune to the economy.Plus, lackluster racing doesn't help.Went out and tilled the garden after the first 50 laps, came back and watched the last 50. At least the day wasn't a total loss.

He had brand new engines from Ford last year.

Its just hard to fathom how a guy who had 5 top tens and had led 43 laps in his first 138 races all of a sudden gets 5 top tens and leads 63 laps in his last 13 races.

My power was out all morning due to a terrific wind and rain storm. Looks like I didn't miss a damn thing.

It does kind of remind one of Morgan on the restricter plate tracks...but it could be he is just getting better (and has top of the line equipment now).

P.S. - wouldn't today's race have been a lot more fun if DE Sr. had been out their with about the 6th best car.:lilangel:

Hate to answer myself but...my guess he would have come in top three (and put a scare into Kyle)...also...a few top-tenners wouldn't have finished the race. ;)

A few thoughts about today's race:

I didn't see a whole lot of side by side racing today. And when I did, it was the leader trying to get by a lapped car. (Although the Edwards/Busch battle towards the end was shaping up to be good . Too bad Carl couldn't keep up.)

When was the last time a debris caution was thrown at Bristol after a long green flag run? We got one today.

I say we shorten this race about 100 laps. Call it the (insert sponsor name here) 400. Maybe some drivers will feel a greater sense of urgency, and the racing could possibly reflect that.

I'm neither a Kyle Busch fan nor hater, but I must raise my glass to him. It's hard to deny his talent. His predecessor in the 18 car (see avatar) could only muster one 2nd place finish in his three yrs of Sprint Cup racing. Kyle takes over and wins 8 races the following year. (Yeah, I know. That stat possibly says something about J.J. Yeley, too.)

All in all, to me, a somewhat forgettable race. I dvr all the races and usually keep any worthy footage for future reminiscing.
Let's just say for March 20th, 2011, my dvr recorded list is wiped clean.

Looking forward to California. Glad the race was shortened. I'm not encouraging anyone to get drunk next week while watching this race. A surefire way to get plastered though, is to take a drink each time the words "fuel mileage" are spoken by the FOX broadcast crew. By the time the checkered flag falls, you'll regret you did.
Or not.

Sorry but to me his predecesser was Bobby Labonte

I listened for an hour on PRN and got about 45 minutes of commercials so I can't give it a rating.

And you people complain about FOX, at least you got race coverage. This was absolutely pitiful. They literally had 30 second race updates squished in between dozens of commercials. Most pathetic display I ever experienced.

You people?

Have you never complained about TV coverage?
