He does not get mentioned enough when they talk about the elites. He was neckless long before Ryan Newman and that isnt meant to be a put down to either one. Cale was just as tough as they get.

He made Junior Johnson better as a car owner because Cale was relentless about getting everything out of the car. If the car had the speed he would be up front.
Junior Johnson simply had to build a car that could take it and when he did Cale reeled of 3 consecutive cup championships.

I am windbagging a lot but there just isnt enough words to define how good he was, one of the best ever.

Cale won the first Cup race I ever saw in person. 1983 August Michigan race. That Hardees Monte Carlo SS was one sweet looking (and fast as hell) machine.
