I agree in a way. The So Cal fans and fans in particular of this track have really been left in the dark due to the lack of transparency about what is the plan going forward from the NASCAR Honcho’s imo. I feel bad for them , I know what it’s like losing your home track. The only thing keeping me optimistic about the short track being built is the blue prints leaked about 2 years ago now? I might be misremembering maybe nascsr showed us them, my point is there’s not much being said about this endeavor and yea nascar can run the business how they want, but updating the progress or lack thereof just seems a bit slimy in my view.

The input I have gotten from locals is that there is no way in hell a track is coming back to Fontana. 0% chance. 0.

Those locals have as much insight as you and me. Somehow it looks like they’ve saved the blueprint they planned to save. Turns 1 and 2 are going to be tight as hell though and I think NASCAR is being ambitious there.

I think there’s a 25% chance of survival.

Yeah I agree, they could make a bull ring with what they have left. We will be able to keep up with what is happening, plenty of drones and planes flying by.

My concern is about the warehouse outside of turns 1 and 2. I hope they’ve had their engineers do their due diligence.

Either way, NASCAR should provide some kind of update.

I will respectfully disagree.

Daytona is one of the Crown Jewels of NASCAR. I would feel the same way about losing Bristol, Martinsville, Darlington, or Charlotte. There are certain tracks that form the bedrock of what NASCAR is and has been. We need to preserve those tracks, not tear them down because they don’t offer our preferred brand of racing.

One overlooked factor here is that construction costs in SoCal are about to balloon. When money starts rolling in for fire recovery, there’s going to be a lot of demand.

Not just the costs but the availability of construction assets. There's a lot of things that MUST be rebuilt before manpower, equipment, and materials will be available for a new project that wasn't already scheduled.

Dega was built in 69..remember the Superbird? 427 Fords, Chevies, and the Hemi? They are slower now than they were then. There wasn't any mistake made. Daytona had been around for yours before. .

Because the engines today are prevented from running at max speed. Rusty broke 240 at Talladega during a commercial shoot twenty years ago. I haven't seen numbers for what they could reach today.

Oh, and likely never will. You'll also never hear them say anything about breaking up the packs they've forced the cars into, something that wasn't necessary with Hemi Superbirds and 327 Fords.

Honestly plate tracks are the only tracks over a mile where I consistently enjoy the racing. Unrestrict the engines and it’s just a 2.5 mile Fontana and Michigan where the cars are strung out.

I like my racing in close quarters.
