600 miles of madness or a Jimmie Johnson free for all? There was a time when I thought they were going to name this track after him. Take a guess who won the first race held @ Charlotte Motor Speedway in 1960..... His initials were J.J. Okay, it wasn't Jimmie but it was a Johnson. Joe Lee Johnson to be exact. Guess how many laps he led going to that victory..... 48. Yep 48. Coincidence? I think not. ;) Might as well hand him the trophy now.

Nope Im thinking you look a spot back in the finishing order of the All star race and you'll find this weeks winner.

Oooooooooh you know what it's been a while since I've had a GO JOEY rant lol Soooo heeere we go...

Okay so here's why I think Joey Logano will win the 2013 Coke 600.. his best track by far is Charlotte, and he has the best average finish there among all active drivers(second only to a guy with one start). A series best average finish of 7.8 in 14 starts at the track. In 8 points paying races he has an 8.1 average finish with 2 top 5's and 5 top 10's. Until last fall (finished 23rd) had never finished worse than 13th at Charlotte. Also has a nationwide win to his credit here as well as some impressive stats there.

This year the 22 teams strong suit seems to be the intermediate tracks. Was fast at Vegas, almost won at Auto Club, a top 5 at Texas, and got a second place finish in last weekends all star race.

The only thing I think detrimental to Joey taking the checkers this weekend is that his crew chief Todd Gordon is still suspended. However, with "race strategist" Greg Irwin AND interim crew chief Steve Reis on the pit box. Im not sure whether the absence of Gordon will even be felt. This one's circled on my calendar. Looking forward to this weekend.

Now see what you can do to try not to make this a big argument lol. :D

Matt Kenseth has already proven that that's not a valid excuse. I think the most detrimental thing that will hold him back from winning this weekend are about a half a dozen other drivers.:)

I think this track is his best chance so far this year. Also the next 4 or so are looking pretty good. :) Like I also said in the next line.. Not sure if his absence will even be felt..

Actually, I agree with you...but it is not as much fun when I agree.;)

Why is nothing scheduled for Friday?

Good question, I've always thought that was odd. The World of Outlaws are racing at the dirt track across the street and there's an infield concert with Trace Adkins at CMS, but no NNS or NSCS racing on Friday.

I don't know who will win nor do I wish to take a guess only to find my foot in my mouth, but I do know who I will be cheering for, which will be awkward considering ill be hanging with the #16 guys. Lol! I will say this tho...if I travel all the way from NY only to watch the #20 win I will vomit all the way back to NY. Unfortunately the chances of that happening are overwhelmingly good!!!

GO JIMMIE !!!

Ambrose, Almirola, Burton, Menard, and Newman have the same chances to win as Danica?! Something is terribly..terribly off about that.

Almirola, ran only two races there, put it on the pole and has an average finish of 14th for two races. Lil Danny 1 race, hammered it to a 40th starting position, passed 1o start and parks for a 30th place finish.

I was just thinking, Sunday(if you watch the Indy 500) you will see 1100 miles of racing. Yep, we all need racing rehab:D

New here, very cool forum... my guess would be fuel management will play a huge part of this one, based on what I saw sat. nite. Hard to go against the #48, but I think the #43 pulls this one off.

They raced there last week before the All-Star race.
yes they did and your point is?:) Heck, if they are racing on the dirt track at Charlotte Friday, that should be televised IMO. Some of us are more addicted then others, I ain't going to rehab.

welcome...I love your avatar, I too am into the vintage sleds except I don't race them, I restore them!

I can't remember when I havn't watched all 1100 miles of the 500 and 600 except when they were cut short due to rain. Even back when our schedule had me on the road traveling to Englishtown NJ for a race the following weekend, I always stopped and took that day off to watch both races. I usually either checked into a hotel, watched it on the tv in the truck, or if I really wanted to be comfortable, I would just fire up the generator, set the satellite dish, and watch it in the lounge of the trailer. But, this year I get to watch it from home. So, I would say that I'm a little addicted. :)

Great to have you aboard maxiracer . That snowmobile racing must be a gas . Ever see Ricky Craven race over your way ? I think it was Ricky that used to do some snow racin.

I'm gonna pick Kyle busch to win this weekend......just hope tony can get a top 10 or something and get some momentum going....

Thanks for the nice welcome guys, looking forward to engaging in some good fun.

The vintage sleds are a ball to race. We have a fun group here in Michigan for vintage racing.

Never saw Ricky Craven in this area, Ryan Newman used to sled around here though.

I'll say Kasey Kahne will be one to watch. He seems to do well in the 6oo. They make good adjustments when the track changes into night time. better to be good the last 100 laps than the first 100.
