Chase Briscoe Appreciation Thread

I'd appreciate him a lot more if he turned his teammate.

But he is smarter than that. Having an awesome year. James is getting the credit he deserves. He doesn't need in team ****.

Chase Briscoe has been one of my biggest surprises this year. From being a non-factor for years, to now being a genuine Championship threat. It’s crazy how good a talented driver can perform when they’re not driving for a rotting corpse team.

...or driving for an elite team with a manufacturer that is all in. I am happy for him. He was dominant. Unbelievable.

Isn’t life funny? One day Chase Briscoe is living his dream, racing on his idol’s team and doing OK. Then the team closes shop, and Chase is wondering what could happen next? Turns out his new ride is far better than anything he had with Stewart!

James Small is finally getting the recognition he deserves as one of the best crew chiefs in the garage. You can read between the lines in some of the stuff James has said, but I don't think that he ever fully connected with Martin. He lived in Pearn's shadow until now. Martin was never in the shop, but now he has a driver that is. It is very interesting that James and Chase are very different creatures. James is brash and foul mouthed while Chase literally never cusses, and seems humble. The coolest thing--and I think what is so great about sports in general...and this sport specifically is that, while different, they share an obsession with winning that bypasses all of the other differences. They could easily be a big player over the next nine races. Love that James weathered the "fire him" storm when Martin was busy with things other than racing.

I think it was obvious that the wheels had been slowly coming off at SHR for quite some time before the end of last season

An excellent team for several years but I think it was a disservice to their final roster. I am sure many thought they were underachieving and not living up the quality of the team.

It has been great to see Briscoe and Preece making the most of their opportunities.

No snark intended toward Stewart. The right stopping points are usually messy even when executed with the best of intentions.
