Chris Buescher and the Chase

To me it is what it is and it's awesome for the small teams out there. I don't feel like the 31,3,1,42 or whomever he would knock is a real contender anyway so it's all good with me even though it's a "wasted" spot. But I do want to see how good he is at 1.5 tracks because at Kentucky that car was FAST compared to usual and FASTER then a lot of the people he would race around for that chase spot anyway.
I dont believe its a wasted space, as all the drivers that should win the Championship were already in the Chase before this weekend.

C'mon, people. Get up with technology. No radar to see the fog, in-car radar to see thru it and or mist thrown up from the cars running onna wet track.

Dunno...Senna was magic in the rain at Monaco..and on road courses cars do get strung out other than the corners for the most part...But I as a realist realize it works best if the track is damp not SOAKED.

Perhaps we could ask Lord Marmaduke Ffogg a villain on the 60's series Batman.

I am glad Buescher got the win. He is a great rookie, overshadowed by two bigger names. Cool to see him get the first W among the three, with far less resources. And it was a fair and righteousess win.

My only criticism is for the chase and the extremely low threshold it promotes.

And a win is a big deal with or without the chase gimmicks. If he gets eliminated in the first round he will still have the Pocono win forever.

If fans were filling the race tracks , then each one pulling out his umbrella would be a real problem for people behind to see the racetrack . Good news , if Nascar paints filled seats of the free umbrellas and the stands will look full again .

If Buescher fails to stay in the top 30 by the checkered @ Richmond does NASCAR grant him a Chase Waiver?

NASCAR, a sport where you can clinch the championship without a single win yet you may not even make the playoffs with a victory. Makes sense. o_O

No

I am rooting against him making the chase. not because I hate the driver, but because i despise the current win and you're in playoff system

I think it was last week where one of the nbc guys said it wasn't easy to get into the chase even if you have a win because you still have to place in the top 30. Seriously??????

any driver that can't place in the top 75% of the field shouldn't be able to sniff a chance at getting into the playoffs.

Save chris buescher the embarrassment of finishing dead last in the first round of the playoffs. stop this win and in your in nonsense and give it to someone that has at least a chance of advancing to the second round

I agree with the whole win and you're in thing being BS along with the rest of the chase.
but the rules are the same for all teams and if they can pull it off I say good for them.

I gotta be honest, sort of want to see CB make it all the way to Homestead and take the it just so show NASCAR that the Chase is pure BS

No tin foil hats here, but I have a feeling NASCAR wouldnt let that happen.

One good thing about "win and you're in" is that points racing is much, much less prevalent in the regular season, and IMO that makes the first 26 races far more fun and interesting than if points racing was paramount. You would not have seen the "go for broke" strategy calls and driving moves at Watkins Glen (or anywhere else) if everyone was trying to accumulate points. I think that is a good thing.

Should be changed to win and you're in PLUS you have to be top 20 in points.

They wont do that though. Why? The whole charade was constructed in the hope that Danica would luck into a restrictor plate win and they know she'll never be top 20 in points.

Am I the only one a little ticked off that NBC did crap to show the race between Buecher and Ragan? This is the essence of NASCAR. Two mid pack teams fighting with a lot on the line. Let's show a few updates of where they are on the track and how things are progressing. Let's talk to the teams a little more. What a great story to follow and NBC just shrugs it off as eh they are just back markers. Hello, this kid is trying to get his team into the playoffs on a team that is way underfunded.
What about the fact that Ragan was in two wrecks yesterday but managed to get back on the track after the first one. What is their motivation right now? Staying in the top 30 and trying to get a win somewhere?

Enlightening. I did not know that.

I am surprised as I thought NBC would be showing a graphic every 5 minutes as to where CB would be regarding the chase if the race ended now. The only driver in the pack I ever saw shown a lot was Danica Patrick but that stopped last year and they only show her if she is off sequence and happens to running up front for the moment.

I have no problem watching the mid packers race - it's still racing. TV tends to follow the leaders and the more popular drivers. TBS and NBC sometimes would follow mid pack racing when the front runners were just following the leader. I noticed the 6 (Bayne) running with the top 10 a lot during the last race and they hardly mentioned him.

That's what makes the MRN/PRN feeds the far superior way to follow the racing action. They do talk about the racing that is going on. They follow those stories. They don't just follow the leader.

I forgot how good the radio guys are until I tuned in for Monday races this year (via internet).
Recently we've switched from watching it live to listening to it live. Our swimming pool days are numbered here in western PA come August. I've found the perfect way to take in the race day activities. I start off by strategically placing my big a$$ cooler at one side of my round, above ground pool. We tune in the bluetooth speakers to the race feed and jump on the Big Joe Captain's Chair Pool Floats, (no balance necessary). Turn the pool jet in a manner that causes a counter clockwise movement of the water. About every dozen or so around the pool revolutions I stop for a refill. NASCAR on a Sunday afternoon in the backyard Redneck Style! Awesome.

so 12 laps around the pool is the length of a fuel run. made me wonder about late race stops for possible fluid leaks.:D
