Clash RACE thread

I’m sick of caring about the older crowd. Lol they’re nothing but a pain in the ass at this point
As much as I love watching races from the late 80’s mid 90’s…that time isn’t coming back. Today was a huge plus I can’t believe people could find something to bitch about, I hope this opens the door to so many more possibilities. I’ve been vocal about changes the sport has made that I didn’t care for (number placement)…but this isn’t one of them.

Just do it under the lights on a Saturday night

That would be awesome, and they could do the qualifying on Sat morning because it only took about 45 minutes...or on Fri night if they let the fans in to watch practice also. But it is not worth going just for the qualifying. Imo

The Clash at Daytona sucked because they moved it to Sunday with wait for it…………..

Daytona single car qualifying.

I would love to see a Friday or Saturday full of snake pit style concerts, ARCA 200, Stadium Super Trucks or something, and then a 60 lap Clash race at Daytona.

Stadium racing would be hella intense in the regular season.

Seems it would be costly to do this every single year tho. So maybe one more time could be fun. I enjoyed it but like do something that’s gonna not cost as much money to do every time
My retort to this is simple and I’m trying not to be cheeky: it’s not your money they’re using

I agree with them about the music though. I think rap is absolute crap and a disgrace to music.

You have every right to that opinion. The majority of the population do not agree with you. My son is 23 and listens mostly to rap and hip hop with a little punk and rock mixed in. I think he is pretty typical of the younger generation

I never saw cost when it comes to these things, as long as I’m entertained. They’re not using my money to put on these shows, I never cared about cost I guess
And that’s fair, I’m not saying I care per say, just that maybe it be a better idea to find something that’s cool like this track and use it, and trying to get the same result. Then that money can go towards making this car even better. Which in turn make the racing better. Win win

As someone that was going to that event since I was a kid, that was 1000% the beginning of the end for sure. There was nothing better than having Clash practice, 500 practice, ARCA, then the big show all in one day.

I get what you mean but that defeats the purpose. If you go to an established short track in the middle of nowhere then you lose the energy of the event being smack dab in the middle of a major metropolitan area.

Yeah, probably so. But they got that one coming up in Fontana soon enough. Could use it, and be just outside of LA

If viewership slumps for the 500 because the Clash was held in California, I could see the Clash moved back to Daytona. If not, the cat is out of the bag. I think the cat is long gone.

Fontana is an hour outside of LA. You're not going to get new fans to travel out of their way, through LA traffic like that, to get them initiated to the sport. You've gotta bring the sport right to the fans. They should also go forward with the Chicago street course idea for the same reason. They've gotta get the product right under people's noses.

They really undersold that event after moving it to daytime. Snake Pit style music festival, ARCA, maybe Stadium Trucks.

This stadium race in the regular season would have been awesome

Well. That sucks lol.

Then hopefully they can have money to improve the car as well then. Because that’s what I care about here. I want great racing, which we got today for sure. But the car also seems it might need a little bit of work with some of the problems they had today.

The parking is much better at Auto Club, it's right off I-10 which is easily accessible. The problem has been the neighborhood, it's industrial. Fontana used to be a superfund site back in the day. Penske bought it and cleaned it up but there are industrail companies all around it. . Nascar plans are to add even more parking with the way smaller track and add more fan friendly areas. They could make it really nice, but who knows if they are going to go thru with it.

Ask Don Garlits about new parts.

Hope they do. More short tracks is great for NASCAR. We have a good amount of Road Courses, probably more 1.5 than we need(like Texas can just go) but like, I would love a few more short tracks.
