Clash RACE thread

Hope they do. More short tracks is great for NASCAR. We have a good amount of Road Courses, probably more 1.5 than we need(like Texas can just go) but like, I would love a few more short tracks.
I'm not a huge fan of short tracks, I like them, just not too many of them. I think they have a pretty good mix. The Gateway/St. Louis track should be good

I guess the new car's miniscule breakage will become the hot topic this week, and the not enough cars conspiracy is fading into the sunset.

I'm excited about attrition being a factor potentially. One reason NASCAR's gotten stale is that the cars and motors are too reliable and too consistent, drivers can run wide open and abuse their stuff without fear of breaking their stuff.

Some of those hits today are concerning just because there's already been a lot of chatter about the safety of these cars.

We need that Dallas/Ft. Worth market. Texas should stay on the schedule but only once a year.

Given that I don't think Phoenix has been a very good venue for the finale so far, if they don't move it back to Homestead (which they should, IMO), they should move it to Texas.

Of course I'm in favor of rotating the finale between Homestead, Texas, Las Vegas, California and Atlanta anyway.

Agreed.

I think the hype was good, but felt like they need to make it a regular season race or increase the stakes more. I also think the All-Star race could get a bit of a payout increase, it’s been a Million for 20 years now??

I agree with them about the music though. I think rap is absolute crap and a disgrace to music.

All is not lost. There are are talented younger Musicians. She doesn't need a bunch of dancing girls to distract the fact that none of them can sing a note or play an instrument

IMO attrition is good when you control the parts, but bad when it's an issued part. When something breaks that you are forced to run and can't improve I'd be frustrated.

I believe I saw one car hit a concrete wall hard and that isn't going to happen with the rest of the tracks. The rest were pretty minor considering all of the contact there was. With the old car teams would have had to use miles of bear bond and tires for a race like that.

The local news is really showing a lot of clips from today's race. Anyone living here that didn't know about NASCAR before... definitely does now unless they don't watch any local news.

Fair enough haha.

I noticed that on Haley’s wreck. Wouldn’t be shocked to see broken wrists this year if you’ve got your hands on the wheel during impact. The recoil on that rack and pinion system is intense

As a Raiders fan, it was weird to see stock cars racing in the Raiders old stadium.

Although I think Bo probably ran faster than the cars did... 😜

Nascars safety record since the introduction of the COT has been outstanding and as good as it gets. I would expect the same record of excellence from the Gen7,

Surprising how bad truex sucks today

Retirement may be what he really wants.

Now Joey can afford some hair
new baby any day now.

Damn, maybe she can drive Bubba's car soon.

I really enjoyed Tony and Clint in the booth together. Nice job by both of them.
I find Clint a little phony at times.

That's what we all wanted right? People getting mad at each other and running into one another? Why else did they put 23 cars on a flat 0.25 mile track. I'm confused how anyone but Justin is upset.

I thought the last chance race showed how the "move 'em out of the way" style racing works. I'm not a fan of that style of racing.

Thats just all chatter. The drivers wouldnt get in to the car they didnt think was safe anymore than an airline pilot flying a suspect airplane.

Huh????
Nearly 20% of the field was eliminated by mechanical failures.

I agree 100%!
I always hated it when a failure bit my driver, but the chance of something unforeseen happening keeps a race a little more exciting.

I think overall it was a pretty exciting and entertaining day. I didn't even want to leave the room my tv is in to go fix a couple hot dogs or grab a few snacks because I didn't want to miss anything. The main could have been a little more exciting but it still wasn't bad. Ice Cube, Pitbull and the Pitbull dancers put on an awesome show. Probably about the only thing that LA fans didn't get to see was Snoop Dog in the house...but he was already booked for the halftime show at the Super Bowl this week. Hopefully NASCAR will throw this party again next year with just a few tweaks that would make it even better. Allowing fan access to the hauler area and practice on Fri during the day... and then qualify under the lights Fri night would definitely draw me back for qualifying. I think racing under the lights on Sat night would really step this event up a notch also.

I've read a lot of comments suggesting running this on Saturday night. I must be the only one who was having trouble seeing cars even before the main reached halfway. Some of those bumper cam shots were downright dark.

Those stadium lights may be good for football but they weren't enough to dispel the shadows that eventually swallowed the racing surface. I'm not sure how they could mount and power lights in the infield like at permanent tracks, either on poles or at track level.

But maybe I was the only one with trouble. In that case, never mind.

Lighting is something easy to solve. If you spend 1 million building a track just to rip it up you can spend some money to rent temporary lighting. It's only a small 1/4 mile track, pretty easy

rent temporary lighting.
Thanks, I'd completely forgotten that option. It's probably already so noisy down there that generators for the lights would hardly be noticed.

Regardless of how they do it, I do think they need to do something other than what they did yesterday.

My guess is that it was due to the camera shots. The race was over before dark, so I think what you are talking about was the shady areas. My eyes are terrible when the lighting sucks and I had no problem watching the cars during the Saturday night qualifying session because that place was lit up pretty good. Now during the day with the sun in my eyes was almost unbearable. The south side stays shady just about all day.
