Coke 600

i thought there was quite a bit of excitement during the last half of the race. not to mention i was waiting for biffle to get out of his car on pit road and strangle someone with his cooling hose. <g>

What was so amazing about it?

This was the best 600, in awhile. Yeah it was a fuel mileage race, but what do you expect for a 600 miler. There was plenty of excitement in this race, 38 lead changes, Busch spinning twice, Johnson blowing up, Jr gambling, I thought it was good.

Not only the gambling, but the guys who were gambling were also going for it and racing. Not just riding around like they were in a school zone.

Guess i failed to see the excitement in a fuel mileage race.

Like I said, most fuel races I'd agree. But this was far from an average mileage race. If you didn't at least see some excitement there near the end, you might wanna go see your doctor.

The National Guard lost both the Indy 500 and the Coke 600 on the last turn of the last lap .

Great race. I didn't know Harvick hated racing at Charlotte, though. Here's what he said after the race, here:

"Even though we won, I'm still miserable," Harvick said after the race. "In about 30 minutes, I'll be happy, when we drive out of that tunnel and leave the month of May behind."

"[Sunday] we were lucky," Harvick said. "I told them at the beginning of this thing that we haven't fixed this thing in two weeks, there's no way we're going to fix it [Sunday]. Nothing against this race track -- I just don't like racing here. It just doesn't feel right. ... I griped and griped and griped all freaking day long about how terrible it was. I just have a bad attitude here, so hopefully this helps."

....and I wonder if any drivers have complained to NASCAR as far as the HDTV becoming a distraction for some. It gave off a weird lighting down the backstretch last night, seemingly more prominent than it was during the All-Star race.

Maybe not a big deal. Just wondering.

Heck, it distracted from the race just watching it on tv.

I have mixed feelings about the race, but the ending definitely raised the excitement level. I know for a while in the middle I was getting pretty bored. Mainly because they were so spread out and it seemed like if the cars were stuck behind the top 10 or so, they couldn't gain anything. Some creative pitting brought up the action and interest level for me. I used to be pretty anti-Junior just because the media shoved him down our throats so much, but I was really rooting for him to make it. I would have enjoyed the finish a whole lot better had it been David Ragan or someone like him who crossed the finish line first.

I keep having this love/hate affair with Kevin. I didn't like him much, then I started liking him a lot and lately, he's just been leaving a bad taste in my mouth. Him saying he hated Charlotte in VL didn't help much for me as far as my opinion level. He was ragging all though the race at his crew, at the calls on the track, you name it. He was being a pill.

Oh well - on to next week!

I don't care for Harvick at all, but it was good to see someone besides Ky Busch or Jimmie Johnson win. Charlotte is my favorite track to attend.

Oh, I'm with you there! I have races that were recorded to watch the next day, but if I find out Kyle won it, I don't even bother watching. I really can't stand him stinking up the NW series. I'm not too thrilled with him in Cup for that matter. I did enjoy he spun not once, but twice, all on his own. When Jimmie's engine went, I wasn't crying in my root beer. haha I think I may have felt differently if it wasn't Kevin's 3rd win this season. I do believe I was cheering for him on his first win. Yeah, I'm inconsistent. LOL The only thing I'm not inconsistent about is who is my favorite driver. I was feeling rather irritated with where he ended up at the end. :D
