Refs did everything they could to allow Georgia back in this. Fortunately, there's not enough clock left for them to onside and try for a touchdown.
 
The excitement being displayed here for tonight's game is breathtaking. Could you imagine what it'd be like had it been a eight team playoff. Whew, I can't imagine.

I'll be rooting against Bama as usual.

Anyhow, the game is tonight. 8pm et. ESPN

 
The real sucky thing is, with Tua and Lawrence coming back and both teams being stockpiled with talent, we will probably see the same championship game next year.
 
That fake FG has to be the worst call I’ve ever seen from a team led by Nick Saban.
 
Had to happen sooner or later. Congrats to Clemson and Coach Dabo, a real classy dude. Clemson will definitely be playing on Jan 6, 2020 next year.

Hope Coach Saban goes into some kind of concussion protocol regarding some of the plays he called tonight.....
 
Asswhipping of epic proportions. This Clemson team should rank right up there as one of the best teams of all time and one of the best championship performances ever.

And to think of how much youth they have on their team. Damn.

That's why I would prefer a 6 team playoff (5 conf. champs + 1 at large). Seeding is determined by the committee, #1 and #2 get rewarded with a bye. There are never 8 teams worthy of a championship but 6 would be justifiable. The regular season is still really important and the conference championship games would mean more, plus the drama for the 6th spot would be great.

I like this proposal. It puts focus back where it belongs... winning your conference championship. The #6 spot should go to the best conference champion from the 'Group of Five' or whatever they call the non-Power Five conferences. Or maybe open that #6 slot up to a conference championship runner-up *only if* no Group of Five champion ranks in the top 15 nationally.

One problem of @2 Sweet's proposal is that non-conference scheduling might return to a search for four cupcakes. But that's where the committee would come in with their all-important seedings... if you schedule four cupcakes, you'll never get a top seed with a bye.
 
They will NEVER expand because of auto bids. You could wind up with some absolutely ****** up brackets if that happened.

For instance in 2012 you would have had
ACC: (13) Florida State
Big 12: (7) Kansas State
Big Ten: Wisconsin *Unbeaten Ohio State ineligible
Pac 12: (8) Stanford
SEC: (2) Alabama
(1) Notre Dame

So we get a playoff where teams 3-7 aren’t even eligible? Heck we could’ve had Northwestern and Pitt in if they pulled off ridiculous upsets according to this system
 
I think the system in place works just fine. Adding more teams to the playoffs would only add weeks to the season and we'd still end up with one of the top 2 ranked teams take home the hardware. The system works as is.

I watched Alabama get It's ass handed to them so in my opinion It's working just fine. :D
