Confederate flag leads NASCAR to reject Bubba Watson's 'Hazzard' car

That's not possible. Everyone knows that NASCAR started as a southern sport. It's like saying the NHL is denying it's Canadian roots.

Also, they still pray before each race and play that god-awful country music at the tracks and during the broadcasts. Many of the announcers are southern as well.

Same ole crap, got it, you hate the south and most NASCAR fans, hillbillies etc... It always about insulting with you, the trend can’t be missed; it must be a miserable life.

BTW blacks and whites get along much better here in the south than most realize. I have some good friends that are black, probably as many black as white.
But that friggin idea of toting to guns, clinging to religion, and being inbreeds is something your hate needs for some sick reason. An idea that is not worth an answer, because a southern man also knows you can’t fix stupid.

NASCAR has had a big footprint form the early days covering the races in the East, the Midwest, California, and even the northwest. While the core is in the south that is no sin or a reason for the tripe you are pushing.

Meanwhile.................... Back at the ranch..................

I think most of the people flying that flag from their RV flagpole have all different romantic notions of what "it is".

So a guy from Austria could fly a Swastica and that would be alrightwitcha?
It IS what it IS!!

I wasn't really talking about the flag , I was talking about Nascar denying its southern roots.

That will NEVER happen. Hell, NA$$CAR had Junior Johnson help them build an operational moonshine still in the Hall of Fame! Don't get much more "southern" or "rootsy" than that!

When I was in Tennessee I got called a Yankee by some toothless guy working at a gas station. I about pissed myself laughing. Other than that everyone that I met was nice as can be. The hospitality thing is real. :)

Guys do it all the time. That doesn't mean Im ok with it Robby

Gotcha...

I might be offended if I were Black or Jewish. As it is I just find it distasteful.
IMO, what the Stars and Bars represents is just as racist as what the Swastika represents.
The romanticism of that symbol is truly a misplaced romanticism... IMO

I'm just glad NASCAR is disassociating itself from that crap. I have hard enough time defending NASCAR to my friends as it is! :D

Misplaced it is, yet it still exists. Yes?

OK, that's the most retarded thing I've ever read. Which race does the stars and bars represent?

REALLY??? The most retarded thing you have ever read?? What race does that flag represent???
And you consider yourself a student of history?

Dude...

All of the above would be the wrong answer, right?

That's what I'm thinking, but I could be wrong. ;)

I thought I'd lean something here this morning but your links aren't working and I can't find any hidden messages. :D

I'm too lazy to type or break all those links. It's just one list of the racial breakdown in America today.

If the stars and stripes IS a symbol of racial supremacy today, which race uses it for that purpose, and which races are offended by it on a racial basis?

I really don't get robby's comment at all.

If the stars and stripes...

I said Stars and Bars, not Stars and Stripes...

starsbars.gif

THIS is Stars and Bars. It's the first flag of the Confederacy.
What does THIS represent to you, FB?

Then there is this,

scross.gif

which is also referred to as the Stars and Bars, although it's really the Confederate Navy Jack.

Again, NOT the Stars and Stripes, my friend...

That would be the Army of Northern Virginia Battle Flag sometimes refered to as the Batlle Flag of the Confederate States of America.
I'm not sure how we got off onto this track after originaly discussing a car from a TV show but I have learned that many of you need to study up on your American History.

Here's a link with some interesting facts on Flags of the Confederacy:

Don't misquote me if you are trying to correct me, Flash... lol

Although I did intitally post it that way, unintentionally, because only one of the picture links came thru on the original post... I edited it immediately after I noticed the error.

I did'nt misqoute you or change what you originaly posted. I merely qouted you before you where able to fix your original post and added the flags correctly, check the times on the post's in question and you'll see what happened. No harm meant. I have problems posting pics all the time.

We really don't need anymore confusion than what runs rampant on here currently ;)

I just don't understand why everyone hates 69 Dodge Charger's :idunno: I always thought they where a cool looking car.

HUGE backseat ;)

Backseat? Use your imagination. Spread her out on that huge hood with that big engine idling. The ladies love words like big and huge.

I found this interesting about Bubba's Charger out of approx 300 69 Dodge Chargers used in the filming of Dukes of Hazard his is one of the Original 3 used in the first 5 episodes and is LEE 1! Bubba has a Very Collectible car on his hands.

Episodes 1 to 5 were filmed in the Georgia towns of Covington and Conyers in November and December 1978. Georgia episode cars consisted of 6 Dodge Chargers. The first General Lees were built by Warner Brothers (WB) and shipped to Georgia where John Marendi (picture car coordinator) labeled the first 3 cars LEE 1, LEE 2, and LEE 3 in no particular order for film editing purposes. LEE 1 was a 2nd unit car with a full roll cage. It is a 383 V8-powered 1969 Charger equipped with air conditioning (A/C). It was originally code T3 Light Bronze Metallic with tan interior, 3 speaker dash, and chrome rocker trim. After the now-famous jump over Rosco P. Coltrane's police cruiser by stuntman Craig Baxley, it was stripped of its front seats and 1969-specific grill and taillight panel. LEE 1 was used once more as the "Richard Petty" tire test car in the fourth episode Repo Men and afterwards was retired to a junkyard in Georgia, but later bought and restored. It most recently was bought by Bubba Watson for $110,000 at the Barrett-Jackson automobile auction in 2012.
