"It sucks, but I know a lot of guys that are in their early 50s on their second marriage and still having kids and are really, really happy," he said. "So I'm thinking I'm skipping that first marriage and just kind of rolling into that second phase of life. So when I retire, I'll get a red Ferrari and 20-year-old blonde and see how it all works out.

"At some point, I want it. I really, really do."

That's pretty awesome lol

Welp, the win today moves Johnson up to 4th in the standings and hopefully he'll move up even more if he wins at Pocono. :D

He also has 60 wins. 30 more & he's at 90. Can he do it?

And winning at a lesser rate now than ever in his career.
Agreed. He's 38. 39 in September. He's winning faster than Jeff was at that age but time is friendly to no man. Plus, I do not think JJ is going to race in sprint cup passed his prime. He has expressed interest in racing prototypes.

I dont know which one to pull for

****, just be happy that you're a fan when this type of talent came into the sport (unlike when you were still soiling your drawers when Jeffy started :D )
IMO, Brian manipulated the point system to increase revenue (and increase JJ's chances of winning.) Jeff would have more Championships had Brian not changed the rules, mid-game. IMO, it raises credibility issues with regard to JJ's history in the overall ranking of the sport. I don't GAF what I see in the record books, I was actually here when it happened.

Hmm, I thought a few posts up it was about Jimmie getting to 90. That's only 22 away so it's certainly possible. I'm not sure about 98.
I do not think Jimmie is in Jeff's league as a driver. The only thing that would prove that for me would be a Jimmie/Chad split. Jeff has adjusted without Ray, I do not believe Jimmie would win without Chad. It's JMO, but to me, that's all that matters.

I wish we could find out, they have to be way up there in terms of longest-tenured driver/crew chief pairings. A whole lot of continuity and chemistry.

And...serious, fresh talent is emerging in the form of Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott.

Okay, and? You seriously think Hendrick is going to give up his dream team for Kyle or Elliot? Please, he'd fire Kasey Khane and Jeff Gordon before he gets rid of Earnhardt Jr and Johnson. Hel,. he'll cut everyone's salary by 1/4th if it meant Johnson and Chad will stay on for a few more years.

Chad won't move on til him and Johnson gets 8 championships. Then he'll probably move higher-up in the Hendrick corporate ladder. Hel, to be the Crew Chief that got 8 Championship, that man could write his own tickets.

JJ showing the competition that the 48 is still the team to beat. What a car he had today, amazing.

What is most amazing to me is that JJ had been suffering the same issues that other drivers who drive loose cars had with the new ride height rules. Not only did Chad and the boys find a set up that works for Jimmie, but I suspect that Jimmie has figured out how to drive the new package. The guy is amazing. We might be watching the best ever. Simply stunning.

There was a sound bite on the 48 radio with Chad saying to JJ "I told you, you were going to love this car"...looks like HMS is bringing out some really dailed in race cars. Penske and JGR had better take notice, the bar has just been raised a notch IMO.

BREAKING: Jimmie Johnson's car has failed post race inspection........nah I'm kidding, but I had you going there for a second.

and then ChexorWrex disappeared forever. Some say he's buried right alongside Jimmy Hoffa in the Giants Stadium.

I am please with JGR/MWR's progress given that they started behind. Probably have gone from 1/2 a second off the pace to 2 tenths. Those last 2 tenths will be a bitch though. Three cars in the Top 5, and the new points leader. HMS cars haven't changed. Set ups and driver adjustment has. The TRD group understands the target. Will not be easy by any stretch.

If Mr. H. had any balls, Chad would partner with Junior next year. At that point, we would learn: A) Is this a Jimmie and Chad thing or not, and B) How good is Junior. Won't happen, but damn would answer a lot of questions IMO.

He can write his own ticket with 6 championships.;)

Am I the only one who remembers Johnson winning a race without Chad? Hmmmm what was that race? Oh what was it? Was it....THE MOTHER ****** DAYONTA 500!? I'm pretty sure Mr. Johnson has talent behind the wheel. ;)

Except Chad had all of speedweeks and more to make that car ready for the 500. Plus, it was Darian Grubb :p Guy is awesome. Jimmie is a great driver & Chad is a genius and their chemistry together is remarkable. Jimmie is the one on the track passing cars & making moves so I think he'll do just fine without Chad.

"THE MOTHER ******* DAYONTA 500!? ".......AKA....."The Crapshoot". However, I feel very much the same about Jimmie. I personally think he is the best ever for reasons that are off topic. Thinking that winning with somebody else would shut the haters up.....maybe.

I respect your opinion, but we will probably never know. I doubt that they will ever split.

Even if they did perhaps at the close of the season I wouldn't put much stock in a fallout (just my opinion).
Chemistry is huge, and two talents can still fail to mesh.

And Jeff did fall off some without Ray. Still won a title but nowhere near as dominate. He doesnt muscle up as well for GWCs and could have probably stole a few, that he didnt win.

I also dont get putting up with inferior crew cheifs if that is the problem as many attribute.
I do think Jeff is one of the short list all time greats. It seems like that if he believed a CC was holding him back, that he would have the wherewithal to make the needed changes.

Just my two cents, or bias, etc....

Hey, the haters said it had to be a different crew chief, they didn't say it had to be a crappy crew chief. ;)

Actually, it would be interesting to see Johnson and Grubb together. After Johnson and Chad wins 8 Championships though.

Jimmie Johnson is of a rare breed, a once in a lifetime phenom that even Old Man E couldn't match up to. Right now there are many top-shelf drivers in the cup series and some good young'uns coming up. It will be a very long time before we see the likes of another Johnson, at this point, he is simply the best driver that ever farted in a NASCAR seat.
