Maybe because the 2017 500 is on Sunday, February 26th, not Saturday, February 25th, as shown in the counter you're using.

Also, including the hours and minutes throws the number of days off by one.

Anyways, I'm sticking with the counter in the original post.

That one will turn to 0 at 12:00 a.m. on the day of the race.
