Roy Smith ... Victoria, B.C. ... super modified racer par excellence.

4 time Winston West champion. Towed a Chevelle from B.C. to Florida on an open trailer and finished 10th in the 1982 Daytona 500.

Lost to us in 2004 when his fishing boat went down. RIP my friend.

McDuffie had a good run that day too. Could be this is what evades the younguns.

Someone could build a car. Pull it a couple to a few thousand miles on an open trailer with a minimum of tools, spare parts ‘n employees then drive it to a top 10 finish in what’s considered a major race.

They had my respect.

Michael Andretti's last F1 race and only podium, never got a fair chance in F1.

Trulli's only F1 win at Monaco. A better driver than given credit for

Michael didn't really commit to F1, he should have moved over the the UK to be closer to the team. He kept flying from the US to the UK for meetings and such.

Trulli was good, a better qualifier than anything else. His race pace was meh, he was called the "Trulli train" for a reason after that large processional win back in '04.

.

True. If he did commit he could have been pretty good, not a championship winning driver, but he could have won a race or two.
