Cup RACE thread --- Atlanta

I just wanted them to go green asap, if it was just for a remaining 2 or 20 lap shootout till the rain started then so be it, that would have been the better alternative.
The problem --- they could drop the green and hit rain in turn 3 crashing half the field. As much as I wanted it to finish, there is no point in tearing up cars.

Same reason they hated Gordon. They don't like winners unless it's their guy

No, they don't like those who they perceive (rightly or wrongly) to have gotten cheap wins gifted to them.

For real.. If not running up front you don't win.. I wonder how many of the doubters look at who has the most laps lead this year. Oh and 4 WINS ....😝😝😝😝😝😝😝
4 lucky wins, something about 2008. I dunno. Lucky something into another one. From what I see every week, he’s been the best entry for HMS. Let’s hope he’s not peaking too early

I am not bothered by Byron winning or whoever would have won.

eh, I Rain was a no brainer, they had a fan die from lightning awhile back, give the crowd time to get to their cars.

It’s been great to my DVR for fast forwarding
So if you don't watch, you naturally miss out

The racing at NH has been fantastic for a few years..the snooze fest stuff there is old. The racing product there is probably the best out of all flat tracks on the circuit these last 5 years lol

Quote me if you're gonna quote me.

People don't have to enjoy lucky wins.

That's your opinion. It could be better with the new changes recently to the car, but there is plenty of whining about it

That’s like your opinion though. I don’t enjoy the racing there, never have. I gave it a chance or two, I just havent enjoyed the flat tracks for whatever reason. I always thought Indianapolis raced the best of the flat tracks, but I’m in the minority there.

I’ll be honest, I can’t remember any of the recent NH races. That’s not to say they’ve sucked, I just can’t remember them
Same. I guess that’s my point I was trying to make, rather harshly but yea I’ve never found the place memorable.

I also feel like since what I’ve seen from your posts tonight, you’ve dissected Byron’s wins as lucky this year. Which is misleading, he’s been fast pretty much every week. He’s going to win a few if you put yourself and teams in that position

Sorry for my negativity earlier in the thread. It has been a horrendous day (serious family issues), and I finally get a chance to sit down by myself and enjoy a good race to take my mind off of everything, and NASCAR pulls this nonsense.

Just feels like a cheat.

I feel you. But the racing product has changed, and races more like COT Martinsville than recent NH.

There was quite a bit of time where passing was difficult, there was one groove of racing, and cars would take forever to make passes.

The last 6 years, the groove has widened, there has been tirewear, comers and goers, passing, multigrooves etc.

I was in the NH is boring camp, but the racing there, for reasons unknown to me, lol, has genuinely changed. I don't think it's caught up to the reputation.

I agree about Indy. I'm still upset we don't have the oval. But Denny thinks it's coming back.

And here we go with the gerbils spending all their time yapping about 16th place with 7 races to go before the playoffs even start lol.
Hypocrisy at its finest right here. I complained about Fox once and you were all over it. Mute the TV.

To each his own, if you like New Hampshire great enjoy! I’ll be tuning in of course, maybe a bit later because I’ll dvr but I always root to be proved wrong on a particular track or race.

I'll be there.

NH has been great for like half a decade now.

Last time I was there, Jimmy( Spencer) grabbed me and said "come on with me" and we went up on top of the hauler to watch the modified race and he was like a kid in a candy store. I could tell his true love was the modified cars.He grabbed me and shook me the whole race when they fought for the lead. I hope they are running the modifides this year before the Cup race, it was fantastic

Oh I am dissecting his wins as luck. I know the speed has been there (it was last year too).

But really I just have a magnifying glass on it because I find races where the fastest cars aren't factors anymore to be so disappointing. This race was going to be a hell of a Penske vs Brad K deal, with Bell and Truex has dark horses, and they didn't even get to race to the rain. That's two weeks in a row. This was the first new Atlanta race I've enjoyed. So for it to end in the way it did (dominant cars not being a factor) is disappointing. Absolutely. And Byron being the beneficiary of that sort of just encapsulates it all..oh well, it is what it is.

Sports.

Somebody needs to market some gerbiltol to get us through the season.

I've been going there since 2004, so I've definitely noticed.

Let me prove you wrong! Watch the race in its entirety if you can. Last year's race was won by Bell, and it wasn't clear he was the fastest until the last 100 laps because 2 or 3 other guys were trading the lead all race.

Gerbitol is the win of the thread.

That's funny as hell.
