Cup RACE thread --- Atlanta

It's simple. People were loving the race and didn't want it to end.
And people feel, in general, nascar could have done things differently.

At the end of the day, we had another 20 minutes of raceable conditions. Nascar could have started the race an hour early. Sadly, this wasn't a case of NASCAR being entirely at the weather's mercy..there was wiggle room

At least you said an hour earlier. I seen some wanting it moved up 2-3 hours, and that’s not possible with how TV works. But an hour probably definitely could’ve worked.

He says from his recliner. Lightning in the area and people in the stands had consideration. It could be another Daytona just as easily and then the peanut gallery could have gone off on that.

I thought so too, but there was a lot of whining here when they were racing there. It sounds like a lot of fans was pretty excited about the race today though.

Yeah, but we here at RF whine about most of the tracks. One year, we'll praise a track for it's racing, then the next year the track will have a bad race and we'll talk about how it should be taken off the schedule permanently. It's kind of what we do. ;)

Yeah true. I just want a balance of everything including new and old racetracks, in addition to new markets (including close to home - bias).

6 plate weekends a year is a bit excessive to me. I would think more of Atlanta if it was the regular season finale or something.

If the race had been completed like the first 2 stages raced…..then that would have been one of the best races ever.
My wording may have been wrong …….I think I should have said that it would have made for a perfect race to watch. At least for me.

Atlanta track is a win for me. No more trying to stay awake when it's follow the leader single file for lap after lap. Left the crowd screaming for more it did.
My sentiments exactly. I would even add its now better than the vintage Atlanta track.

Last time I was there, Jimmy( Spencer) grabbed me and said "come on with me" and we went up on top of the hauler to watch the modified race and he was like a kid in a candy store. I could tell his true love was the modified cars.He grabbed me and shook me the whole race when they fought for the lead. I hope they are running the modifides this year before the Cup race, it was fantastic
This, this is Gospel...!!!
Loudon is the Midifieds Daytona...

Social media as a whole in regards to nascar

That’s like your opinion though. I don’t enjoy the racing there, never have. I gave it a chance or two, I just havent enjoyed the flat tracks for whatever reason. I always thought Indianapolis raced the best of the flat tracks, but I’m in the minority there.
With the recent changes I expect Loudon to be comparable to Gateway. You really cant get a better comparison than that.

Loudon Specs
Length- 1.058
Width- 65 feet on the straights and Corners
Banking is 1 Degree on the straights and 2-7 Variable in the corners

Gateway Specs
Length- 1.25
Width- Cant find it but its pretty comparable
Banking between 9-11 degrees in the corners

Loudon is a great track, they just needed to get the car to race better and I think this year it will. I'd always arrive early and stay in Boston for a few days and spend some time on the waterfront then drive up to Loudon. Heres hoping for a great race and a dry weekend

Byron takes over the reg. season points lead and is top seed in the playoffs. With 22 playoff points, he is going to be around for awhile in the playoffs.

It was fantastic, you see what they can do under pressure. Wonder how SVG would have fared in that climate? I bet he would have had a blast

Hoping for a good race too. The last month has been filled with some good ones

Anything can happen with the playoff format and a one race championship, but William Byron's definitely the runaway favorite to win it all right now.

It was great to see the 4 along side the 29 on the pace lap. I have to wonder though, why the small 3 is missing. The original paint scheme had a small 3 by the #29.

As long as Pocono and Richmond remain on schedule, you’re pretty safe.
I would be gutted if Loudon came off the schedule.

With the removal of half the seats, and the second race, I'm definitely nervous.

They have done some investment with the dirt track facility, but yeah people do need to support NHMS and/or NASCAR needs to put more horsepower in the cars at short tracks & road courses.

On the picture I posted, yes. But that's not a picture of the car Childress drove. The one he drove raceday did not have the 3 on it. see post #38View attachment 71607
Got ya. Doesn't make sense to me either.
It was also absent from the throwback that Harvick drove.
