Cup RACE thread --- Bristol

I have a girl come over after stage 2 and ALL HELL breaks loose 😂😂😂

I’d be pissed if I was Chase and I’d be pissed if I was Harvick.

Harvick looks like a clown with his helmet on.

As a 22 fan I do find what happen with the 9 last night....ironic.

Alright. Now I’ve read the whole thread and caught up. Watched the race this morning as my Bulldogs played last night and went to bed after that win by them.

I like both drivers, Chase clearly my favorite but I’ll call him out when need be(see Dega a few weeks back with his block) so you know I’m not bias when it comes to him. Harvick cut down his tire, sure it was an accident 100%, but a lot of you here crying about Chase are doing so because you don’t like him. If your favorite driver did this, you be talking about how awesome it is!!! Well some of y’all favorites would be to much of a bitch to get out the car at the end also tho and not even talk to Harvick.

to sum it up

ITS BRISTOL BABY!!
Also lol I said Dega here, idk why. But I meant Daytona.

At least they were smart enough to talk. They both can ensure the other doesn't advance in the playoffs if they don't work things out.
THAT would be awesome….
Quite a lot actually, but those were outside of the sport.

Right….like it wouldn’t have made news if DE was involved in an assault off the track. His legend knows no bounds….
Regarding Elliott holding up Harvick so Larson could catch him, Logano did the exact same thing to Larson in an earlier race so Hamlin could catch Larson. It isn't like it's the first time a teammate helped another teammate. Won't be the last.

Huh? Logan’s and Hamlin are teammates? And if they even were Id HIGHLY doubt Logan’s would help Hamlin…
Kevin is a wrestler. I doubt he’s afraid of Elliott.
That makes him a badass? He sure never uses his skills and always has at least one, usually more, person with him when he gets all bad ready to throw down…..

I think it was Logano holding up Larson at Atlanta for Blaney. Even though I think Blaney was gonna pass him anyways.

I really just want to know, if the roles were reversed, would Larson do the same for Chase in that situation. Gonna have to give a hell no to that one. He carries such a shrimpy, passive complex that I can't see him ruffling feathers to help a teammate out in such a dramatic way. I also think it was absolutely stupid to gift Larson 5 more points when that's the guy you're going to be competing with to get to Phoenix, not Harvick.

Chase did that moreso to screw Harvick than to help his teammate, imo. Larson wouldn't do that because he wouldn't have been as heated as Chase was in that circumstance. Why you feel the need to insult Larson over that, and use it as an opportunity to imply Larson is a lesser man than Chase is beyond me.

And for what it's worth, the 4 and 9 wouldn't have been battling for the win if the 11 didn't damage the 5 car and alter it's balance in the way they did. So the real irony here is that every Elliot fans favorite Denny, by being Denny, indirectly allowed the circumstance that screwed Chase to exist.

Denny giveth, and Denny take awayeth.

Also think the 5 is almost a lock, given points. As will be Truex. Chase can afford to give up 5 points to Larson, considering the buffer. It's the 18, 12, and 11 who he really needs to keep out of victory lane.

I also just noticed that Chase tried to life up Harvick's helmet lol

I think Chase is getting schooled by his old man. Accident or on purpose doesn't matter if you want to keep drivers off of you and racing clean.

I'm pretty sure that Chase knew they were only going to have a heated discussion or he would probably have not taken his helmet off...or at least I hope he would have been smart enough to keep it on if they were actually going to throw down. You don't see a soldier removing their helmets before going into battle or very many football players removing their helmets when they throw down...and the ones that do probably have already been hit in the head one to many times and that is why they made such a bad decision. That's Bristol and most of us love Bristol and and all of the excitement it brings. :dpepsi:

I think Larson has opened up a pretty beefy lead at this point. Over 30 pts, yeah?

Assuming the non-playoff standings shown on RR are correct, Larson would currently have a 17 point lead over Hamlin.

Loved the race...I've got nothing more to add...my opinion of Harvick/Elliot has been shared by 50% of the posters here and disagreed with by 50% of the posters here, and nothings gonna change that!!!

I will say tho.... this track is amazing, the atmosphere is incredible, and the racing is top notch. Everyone knows that. BUT....I think changing the date from August to September will massively hurt this track. Bristol is a pilgrimage every NASCAR fan has to make. Having it in mid/late August for 40+ years was a constant. It was a summer's end tradition and an easy trip to make with kids not back in school. Attendance was horrific Saturday night even with banners over the cheap seats on the backstretch and I believe they converted much of turns 1/2 into lower capacity "bucket" or "stadium" seats rather than traditional bleachers.

The track was really turning a corner and attendance was up in the final couple years before the pandemic. I went in 2019 and the local papers all reported a small, but certain uptick in attendance over past years. It looks like a lot of that progress has been erased.

Also I'd like to add... I like to look at track attendance but it's not critical to much of anything in this sport anymore. BUT.... at no other track does the crowd/attendance play a role into the experience more than Bristol. The drivers LOVE the stadium of fans. It's an amazing optic whether you're there or watching on TV.

I agree with this... both the first point and the second point.
