Yea I don’t want to see this tire or whatever it is Goodyear brought today at say Pocono or Michigan

I can understand where Goodyear would want to see less cording and marbling, and that’s fine. Hopefully they don’t dial back too much though. It seems the resin really caught them off guard, and that’s a track decision. Probably only a slight adjustment is needed to hit the sweet spot. But it was massively entertaining regardless.

Bowman sneaking into a top 5 is hilarious. Loved the race. Tire wear was awesome. Now we just need 750 hp.
 
This race brought me back to the old days of when "not being able to pass" was not a thing. It was fun, it was entertaining and I was on the edge of my seat at the end which I have not been able to say about a non-speedway race in a while. It's amazing how many of NASCAR's problems can be solved by just bringing a tire with some fall off. Maybe this one had a little too much fall of yes but man did it make for an interesting and exciting race. I was really disappointed with Larson's comment after that "he hopes he never has to run another race like that." Just didn't like it coming from a guy not complaining when he wins a boring race of just running qualifying laps with no passing. I am not sure what Chase said after but I am down on any driver right now (including him if he said it) that does not realize this was GREAT for the sport and it's what all the short-tracks should be doing including Loudon and Phoenix even though they are longer. My only concern - When tires were new/equal the Toyotas could not be touched. This is going to be a problem for NASCAR if every race is the Toyota show.

I've listened to the whole complete interview that Larson gave with the comment everybody seems to have a problem with. If I understand him correctly he doesn't want his speed governed by a tire. It's boring to him trying to be the guy that doesn't have the first flat.

They’ll pile on him at any chance they can get. I initially did at first and then found the quote on Twitter while reading what he said. Seems like he felt the race was a bit out of his hands due to the tire and I think there’s no problem in saying that

I just disagree it was out of his hands. Everyone was given the same tire to manage. Yea sure maybe circumstances could have played out better for him but it worked out well enough that even he did not understand how he finished in the top 5. It was because by circumstance he short pitted just early enough. It was a great race and he should be happy with not only his finish but the product for the fans. No one (I would hope not even fans of his) wants to see boring races where the best car just runs off and leaves everyone. Those are close to test sessions. Larson is supremely talented so this should be no issue for him.

Larson said on the DJD that “we know we can easily get these engines to 1000 hp because they’re taking the engine from the Vegas win and putting it in a personal car for Mr H and it’ll have 1000 hp.” I’m assuming he means naturally aspirated. I hope.

Most of the time I wish Larson would STFU. He says **** because this isn't his preferred gig. Like we should be grateful he is even here.

Chase's response was short and concise. Said he had fun.

He's not one to get too openly involved in the package, rules, or other things conversations, he generally is very "I'll run whatever they give us".

I think I understand what he meant too but he should really learn to just STFU at times. When Chastain pulled that move at Martinsville in 22 he was not happy about it and called it a "bad look" for the sport. I don't even necessarily disagree with him but everyone else seemed to be in awe and disbelief of what happened and enjoyed the moment for what it was and the worst part was Larson had tried it at Darlington once. That moved made NASCAR headline news in places it normally is not and what's not a "good look" is one of the sport's start complaining about it in that moment. The issue with Larson is that he does not seem to complain about anything when he wins a boring race. Dude has top-notch talent and even those who don't like him really can't question that but the track is full of other talented drivers (you don't get to this level on accident) who don't complain when things are not exactly as they want them or at least wait until a private conversation later to do so. It's called professionalism and not damaging the brand. The racing was GREAT yesterday and the best car won and Larson finished right around where he ran most of the day. If he has a problem with that then he should just walk. Many will not miss him.

I think the person that needs to change is yourself. Larson is what Larson is. He's already lost one career, got it back and continues to be an outspoken driver. So you think he NEEDS to change lol. Good luck. I like to watch him race the dirt, and he is damn good on pavement. I don't pay a whole lot of attention to what he says. I happen to think he is right on what he was saying about having a trying not to have a tire pop race. It ain't his thing.

Seriously? I need to change because it bothers me when a star of the sport potentially does damaging the brand? NASCAR has been struggling for a while and to have one of the faces of the sport not better promoting it is not a "good look." There is nothing wrong with the suggestion that he should be more professional than that. He comes across as hypocritical honestly. Nothing to complain about when he wins a boring race and/or uses up another driver to win but god forbid he can't just out run everyone all day. To be clear - I don't have an issue with what he said - I have issue with when and how he said it. If this is not his thing - there's the door and don't let it hit you in the ass on the way out. The sport was fine without him in 2020. On that note - in this cancel culture world I am still in disbelief of how quickly he got his job back and everyone seemed to forget about his use of a word that has no place in society.

Very true and I would have bashed him for it too. I would have also bashed Chase but glad to see he said it was fun as well. It was a great race and the drivers need to recognize that this is the direction the sport should go in. Larson being pissed that he can't just run all out annoys me because how does he think the lower funded teams feel when they have no chance? This levels the playing field in a way that puts it in the hands of the drivers and that's a good thing. This is how all the greats did it back in the day and that's when the sport rose to the top in ratings.

May have said it would be a different story the second time around after they get a hold of the car and the drivers are aware. Who knows what Goodyear will come up with and if they use resin again or go back to PJ-1
