Cup RACE thread --- Darlington

Also to piggyback on the country music debate on here...give these fellas a listen. They have an old school vibe that I feel relates to young and old fans. I think they’re better than anything that’s come out as a newer country artist

What they’ve lacked in speed they make up for in consistency. Very rarely do they ever have a truly bad day and only Larson and Hamlin have more Top 10s. They could point their way through a couple of rounds at least.
I'm worried about next round with so few playoff points its the wildcard round round and not having playoff points could bite us which is why I hope Kevin can rack up some wins this round to help that out.

Remember Molly Hatchet?
Speaking of Allman Brother's did you know Molly Hatchet's song "Dreams (I'll never see again?)" Is an Allman brothers cover? It's covered almost as an entirely different genre, which I enjoy just as much as the original.

Flirting with disaster is one of my favorites. A lot of 70s-80s southern rock really ****** killed it with guitar riff driven music that seemed world class in the industry, that isn't the 4 chord finger picking progression in a lot of music today.

My best bud loves Florida Georgia Line. I played him Ghost Riders in the Sky by the outlaws and he was dumbfounded that such musicianship can exist in pop rock genres.

I told him that the industry used to promote talent, not stars and a sound. He got it.

About the only current Country band I like. The other one, The Mavericks have taken a hard left into other genres (good ones). Midland gets plenty of hate from the cool kids saying its too contrived in its recreation of the 70’s sound. I don't care, I enjoy the hell out of it.

I just got done watching the Xfinity race and I have to admit I think their package again put on a better show than the cup cars

Yeah, composite bodies make a big difference. There were a number of drivers rubbing the wall and each other in the Xfinity race with little or no damage. But look at the number of cut tires for minimal damage the cup cars had or brushing the wall or each other would almost guarantee a mid pack run. The cup cars had 100 more HP ran faster, but yeah I don't think they put on a better show per say than the Xfinities or the trucks.

Did that guys shirt say biscuits and porn?
Ha ha, I had to rewind 10 seconds to see if I saw that correctly. It is a highly-rated eatery in Nags Head, NC.

I've thought about this for a while and I guess what I finally came down to was they needed to do something because if they didn't and someone else got hit the argument would be made that "Kyle did the same thing without punishment, just this time the person wasn't able to jump out of the way"

The monetary fine to me is a joke. If you're going to do something do something they care about, points

I really think he should have been suspended and possibly even removed from the playoffs. But then again playoffs is probably part of why they didn't do more.

His post wreck interview would have come with a few fines from the FCC if the race was on NBC. NBC would have gotten the fines but nascar would have extended them to Busch.

My first sentence stated "Kyle's cursing was his fault". How is that laying off blame, whatever that means..My next sentence used the words "could have", again, not "laying off of blame". And when interviewing Kyle, isn't it always a good idea to be acutely prepared of his wording choices, and be able to avoid a fine for the client you are providing broadcast services for?

I have to mention the "MELON MAN'S" great run, ole Ross damn sure got up on the wheel, he also learned a lot and I was so happy to see him finally get some real air time during the race and after the race, the guys in the booth really had complementory things to say about him.

Its likely that car won't ever be run again so doubt they really cared

I was wondering this. I wonder if Kyle knew they weren't running that car again.

Also makes you wonder what they have in the bank. That was the dominant car, and it was expendable? We know the Nashville car is the phoenix car, so we'll see.

You’d hope they “cloned” the car that the 9 team took to Phoenix last year.
