Racing. Nice one on Harvick. Late cautions always go his way.. figures it stays green. Some drivers are lucky, kb and Harvick are those drivers.

Carl aint one of them

was there a need for a late race caution today? I didn't see one.

Idk, I didn't see the end. I watched it on raceview from work. If there wasn't a need for one, and they didn't throw one then that's fine. Not sure if you're being sarcastic/passive or not

Also, given the speed the 48 had on the long run, I'd say he's a safe title bet

He said it was his fault. Too bad he did not admit that two years ago when he knocked Jeff Gordon into the wall(and out of the Chase possibility).
Yeah, what a moron trying to pass the 24. He should know better than try to go for a win when he needed to stay in the Chase. Couldn't believe he had the nerve to race Jeff.

Intimidation. Make your competitiors fear you

Don't think it really works.

Still don't know how I feel about Harvick. Don't like him. But i definitely don't dislike him. Rodney Childers on the other hand is rather narcisstic. Which is fine if your career is sport

Joey fans (all 3 of us here) will be on pins and needles for 'Dega. Ugh...right on the bubble.

I'm afraid the 2 and 22 are due to get caught up in the big one.

....or the rest of the race where the 19 drove like Newman?
Because he didn't let the slower car pass him?
Yeah, but Kyle and his fans don't like it the other way. Kyle's done that to Carl many, many times.
And everybody else.
He couldn't help himself at the end of that interview saying: it's just hard racing....I guess.
I suppose Carl was supposed to pull over and let the slower car pass.

Carl had a faster car in the closing laps of the race. That much was obvious.

Dont tell me you expect people to let Kyle go by because... reasons?

Honestly, I think Carl should race like he did Sunday more often. I think he's been a little too passive at times.

If you didn't have Kyle on RaceView (which I doubt you did), it would be impossible to explain. What went on in the closing laps was a small sample of what was going on all race. Kyle had several opportunities to justifiably door Carl. He didn't, but probably should have. Carl has some coming IMO.

Lol every driver says stuff like that every race. "Tell the (enter number here)'s spotter I'm gonna dump him" or my favorite "Im gonna whoop (enter expletive)'s ass after this race". Nothing happens.

If Kyle had the faster car he would have been able to clear Carl & not have his frustrations - Kyle's car was junk for 80% of the race & the team did a great job making adjustments for a P3 finish.

Carl has some coming? The salt flows heavy. I thought you were a TRD guy, not a KB guy. Be happy the team is performing well as a whole.

Yeah, I get that. More about what Hirschman and Stevens were saying and what I was watching.

Certainly a TRD guy (who is partial to Kyle given that he is the face of the Toyota Racing program). However, there have been a few races where I think the idea of "teammate" has been confused. Carl himself said that he has one coming from Richmond alone. Kansas, and I believe either Dega I or Daytona II would add to that possibility. I was also critical of Denny's move on Matt in Daytona I.

Wouldn't call it junk, just more of what has been going on. Kyle is a step off right now. He doesn't have the feel. Yet, I love where he is in the Championship standings. We haven't seen Kyle's best yet. Still time. Adam did get it right at the end. They missed on the hotter day.

I get it. Carl has moved Kyle for wins twice.
Also, agreed with michfan. Carl has become a bit less aggressive. He's the FIRST guy to move over for someone

Yep, he's really toned down the aggression the last 6 years or so. After the Keselowski incidents he's basically had no feuds.

He doesn't seem to wheel it unless he has a car capable of winning.

In good equipment, he had a 9 win season, and competed for two titles in his first 7 seasons, both of which were dominant seasons.
He's a great driver but sometimes as of late, he seems content to not push the car as hard as he can if it's not a top 5 machine.

I talked about this with a friend, given his (seemingly) neurotic nature, Carl has always thrived when he had a good relationship with his CC. Since Carl focuses on the idealized version of himself, it takes a while him to build a solid relationship with a crew chief. Carl needs atleast two seasons with the same crew chief, it's why he ran decent with Robbie Reiser in a free falling roush team. And why he was arguably better than anyone not named Johnson or Stewart when he was with Bob Osbourne, who, in my opinion knew Carl better than any other CC.

They had the perfect banter and he knew how to poke at and appeal to Carl's brattier, arrogant side

Honestly, I think that is perception. Ever since he signed with JGR, I have watched him closely. I think he is Newman-like without the neck. I like it. He has the appearance of a nice guy, but drives like a hardass IMO. He drove Kyle hard all day long in Kansas, and Richmond....I have my theory.
