Cup RACE thread --- Las Vegas

That car looked undrivable all day and it seemed like the more they worked on it the worse it got. :(
He was running top 10 for a bit but I don’t know if strategy or faulty adjustments did them in at the end

The race was not bad but man I am just so disappointed as a fan of Chase that it's more of the same. It's a long year I know but to have a whole offseason to get better and still be showing this puzzling lack of speed if just a total downer. I am well aware of the BS out there that this is on Chase somehow and this is all about just how talented Larson is and I dismiss that crap. Those people seem to forget that after Larson's stellar 2021 he was only decent in 2022 and Chase was better all year. The team suddenly fell off at the end of 2022 and have not really recovered since. This has been a trend at HMS for a LONG time in that they just can't keep all 4 cars at the same pace. For years Dale Jr struggled and as soon as the 88 found speed the 5 lost it. Now the 24 has speed it has not had in a few years and the 9 lost it. These are all great drivers at this level and they don't just forget how to drive. It's a deeper team issue and it's frustrating as hell.

There should be a yellow for **** on the grill--particularly Willy's bag thing. That is stupid. What part of this sport is about **** that shouldn't be there becoming a part of the outcome.

The Toyotas have made their names with **** that shouldn’t be there. ;)

You should be around long enough to know that Nascar does it their way and no amount of belly aching is going to change the way they do business. Leave that for others that think what they say is important ok. lol. Wind was blowing 25 with gusts to over 40. That bag could have come from California.

I feel the same way about the 48 team. They can run so well at times and then at other times they just don't seem to have any speed or handling in the car. When Bowman has a decent car, he runs towards the front, but that team struggles so much a lot of the time...and it isn't Bowman. They were terrible yesterday.

Hard to believe he won 4 races a few years ago

Chase will get it together. It has been a long slump but he will win again and that's what a driver needs to needs to build upon.

I think momentum, getting back in sync and the confidence it brings is a lot more important in racing than most people believe.

Ran pretty well, but binned it on his own and complained that Hocevar raced him too hard. It’ll be interesting to see how he deals with having fast and aggressive teammates for the first time in his career.
I think it really ticked him off deep down when Hocevar in the 7 was out-running him in the 9 at Gateway last year. He seems to have it out for Hocevar.

I think LaJoie sees the handwriting on the wall. No longer can he claim the equipment or the team is the problem since Spire has had an influx of money and talent. It's sink or swim time and Hocevar isn't going to cut him any slack so there is pressure there he isn't used to.

I am really big on Hocevar's speed. I would rather see that in a young driver than almost anything else. I think a real raw talent has better chance of refining their skills and cutting out of the mistakes in order to great, but it is almost impossibile if they don't have the raw talent even after they get the experience.

I think that fit's Hocevar he has good speed. He just needs to refine his skills and if he ever does he will be one of the greats.

I like Lajoie in spite of his flaws. I don't think he has the raw talent that Hocevar has, but I think he has performed well based on his opportunities. I hope there is a place for him in a cup car for many more years and he gets to win at least one cup race before he is done.

Note: Greg knows he be fill of shiet just refer to Greg posting in third person. If Lajoie performs better Greg retains the right to change Greg's opinion while acting like Greg knew it all the time.

In which case we here at RF reserve the right to remind Greg of this, with the final note removed from the quote as such. ;) ;) 🤪

But yes Hocevar's potential ceiling is definitely high. Corey almost reminds me of a Ward Burton type.
