Cup RACE thread ---- Martinsville

Post race show shills it.

Honestly, NASCAR media, Larry and JMac need to be calling it out as well - put pressure on NASCAR to do something.

I watched the 2010 Martinsville spring race won by Hamlin earlier today during some exercise and if anyone wants to say that this race was comparible, or as competitive, they're lying, shilling, or simply are misremembering.

Faster cars with elite talent behind the wheel can pass a slower car. That's how it should be.

I hope to see the day when one of them goes Rogue

It’s strange hearing several guys talk about aero tight conditions here. 2019 had a couple of bad Martinsville races, but that was fixed as simple as taking away the 8-inch spoiler from the short tracks the next year.

Seems to be ignored around here but many drivers interviewed and comments from the booth were made about the tire not working because it was so cold. But whatever. lol. When the tires aren't gripping, yeah it doesn't take much to make it worse.

This is a new car guys so I wouldn’t panic TOO much. Run some bias ply’s or very soft radials and you’ll get a much better race. Also switch Darlington with Martinsville date wise, completely different climate this time of year in SC compared to VA

While I did enjoy seeing Byron get his second win in the new car, I am glad Martinsville is over and looking forward to Bristol on dirt.

Interesting, similar races, similar stats and one race is the worst in the world in comparison. I think many had high expectations because of the prior races and were expecting more.

CRANDALL: Martinsville issues are nothing new

Last fall Elliott and Denny Hamlin combined to lead 392 of 501 laps at Martinsville. Elliott and Ryan Blaney combined for 43 out of 500 laps led in the spring of 2021, Martin Truex Jr. and Joey Logano combined for 366 of 500 laps led in the spring 2020 race, Truex led 464 of 500 laps in the fall 2019 race, Brad Keselowski led 446 of 500 laps in the spring of 2019 (pictured above), and Logano led 309 of 500 laps in the fall of 2018.

Martinsville, as far as the Cup Series goes, is not producing. And granted, not every race will be memorable, but this is a dramatic turn of events for a track that was always an easy must-watch.
