Cup RACE thread: Martinsville

That's the conundrum.

A clear cut rule vs. "Hear Say" over the radio. It can easily been seen as such, I say the data and how Ross and Austin were racing Byron was more telling than anything.

Just a wild ending.
did you see data? Did they actually race the same or did it look fishy?

Well I’ll tell you the wife was sitting here saying no way would I try to pass him. He would have walled either

Larson would get in.

Larson was still behind Bell, who's official finishing position is last car on the lead lap.

He would have been 3 points above Larson. William getting DQ'd would put him p6.

See what I mean? There's just no way we can make sense of this.

There was so much manipulation. I think Nascar should have keft it alone. Penalizing only Bell for the wall ride feels like a cop out to avoid ruling against the system.

What Bell and Wallace did was blatant. What the 1 and 3 did was more subtle. I dont think NASCAR will do anything to them but chew them out.

No, I don't have that kinda access. I'm not important in the grand scheme of things. Lol.

Just, it's if you DQ Bell for the wall ride and DQ Byron for race manipulation. Then you put Larson into the final four.

This is just as wild as spin gate, IMHO. Bowyer's spin led to Truex being disqualified at Richmond in 2013. So I mean, Idk. Just this is why there is such a love and hate deal with this system.

When it works, it can work well. When curveballs are throw in, stuff like this happens.

The thing to me, is he was loose when he got into the wall and gained no spots. The spot he gained was the 23 going backards before that.
He got into that position by overdriving into the corner, then into the wall, where he accelerated through the second half against the wall. A violation, which was correctly called.

I guess, but like I said, he gained no spots. Had he gained spots, I could see it. Oh well, its done.

Quick question. Can the 20 still appeal this week, or is that only for dq vs time penalties?

Does anyone even know?

Bell is the only classy driver in the JGR stable, which means it's only a matter of time until they replace him with a dbag that fits their image.

What was Bell doing in 19th position anyway? I missed the first half of the race, and was surprised to see him so far back
Just never really had pace

This appearance of thumbs in the scale is a terrible look for NASCAR. We all know it’s always been there but not it’s starting to look like boxing. Happy for Blaney at least

Removing the ruling and BS at the end from it all, this was a pretty entertaining race throughout. Martinsville was still way better with the Gen6 car but they've slowly made the nextgen better there - the tire today certainly helped that some. I'd still pick this place for a championship race 100 times out of 100 but it'll never happen.

Speaking as a 9 fan, absolute roller coaster of a day and it definitely stings. Blaney has been the best there for a bit tho so what can you really do. The 9 really showed something they hadn't all year these last 3 races and that's huge for 2025. I am ready for the offseason personally.
