Cup RACE thread --- Pocono, Rd. 1

NASCAR needs to get a better marketing team. What a generation of guys we have coming up right now. Larson, Elliott, Blaney, Logano, Jones, Wallace.......

I'm excited for the future of NASCAR.

I've said this for years, about what's marketed anyway. Between Jimmie Johnson winning seven championships and the youth movement, there's a lot going on in the sport today. But, for some reason, the sport still revolves around someone who died 16 years ago.

Decent run for Danica. A theory: the Almirola wreck was a breaking point for some of the azzhats that have made her life difficult. Those guys that always run 22-30th that just give her no breaks. IMO, I want to believe those guys "heard" what she was saying about all the big impacts she keeps taking. You don't have to pull over when someone is "passing" you, just don't race every corner like it's the last lap. Like Mark Martin. Seen him accidentally move someone, pull over and let them by, re-pass them clean a few laps later. RESPECT. She gets no respect as a competitor by some guys. But YMMV.

NASCAR does a poor job emphasizing the personalities of drivers and Jimmie Johnson is probably the biggest victim of this. He's a really likable and funny guy when he's interviewed but he's somehow typecast as "boring."

We have a REALLY likable and talented bunch of guys here. It's going to be an awesome next 15 years or so.

Even his interview was funny.

Ryan Blaney is a strait up clown.

Brad is a go lucky guy.

Kyle is a fun dude too.

And then there is Clint. There are a lot of good personalities. The sport's marketing is bad. Doesn't help when you have the Fox announcers blatantly reveal the marketing agenda every week

Was at the 21 shop in Stuart a month ago, awesome!!

Since the death 16 years ago the sport has "evolved" with the introduction of an ever-changing playoff format, multiple phantom debris cautions, stages, the overtime line...
Hard to determine why fans are losing interest.

So big Dave had to duke it out with a mighty Kenseth to get that Busch win at Charlotte. I think Ryan topped that taking on Baby Busch and Harvick for the Cup win. And, what an awesome VL interview by Brad K. Lot of folks don't like Brad, but I think he is a racers racer.

He's a mechanics dork lol. I like him though

Man I can't get over Brad. Was that an impulse? Was it planned for him to do post race if he didn't win?

Never seen another driver pumped for another driver like that before

That a way Ryan Blaney!!!! Great job Ford Performance! 4 in the top 5

Well I've probably been to 30-some races at Pocono, at a guess. Today was a first. Came back to the car after the race and felt something underfoot and looked down and there is a nice fishing rod, rigged up with a big spinnerbait on it. Reel was in bad shape (looked like it got run over) but the rod is fine. A Bass Pro rod. Took it home. Anybody lost a rod, let me know! Maybe I'll see you in July with it. Of all the weird things to find at the track.
