The caution is meant for teams to check tire wear but if it’s not mandatory then we really don’t need a competition caution.

I could be wrong but I don't recall any competition cautions being mandatory in the past.

But who knows if he's really that bad? Best Cup finish is 24th but there's little doubt that he's in vastly inferior equipment.
