I mean I guess he's got a few lap fresher tires than most so that's a plus. They also may have been trying to get locked in on stage points there to go ahead and advance no matter what.

I think they were trying to save stage points, but when it was obvious they wouldn’t then they pitted. Alan said those tires were “smoked.”
