Cup RACE thread --- Soggy Daytona

Ryan Blaney; Has the 3rd highest average finish of any driver in Cup, yet may not get to race for the championship because he didn't win a race

Austin Cindric: Largely mediocre most of the season, but is guaranteed to race for the championship because he backed into a mickey mouse win during the first race of the season?!

How the HELL does THAT make any sense?

Not that Cindric looks like a championship contender but Blaney and Truex’s seasons haven’t screamed championship material especially Truex

Everybody was in the playoffs before the green flag fell at this track in February.

And everyone had read the rules. Give that a whirl.

Because thats rule, we had a decade of people hanging around and lagging for 3/4 of the race, they have to get off their ass and race now.

Erik Jones drops back, Jeff Burton this is how mirrors work

Really? Because that worked out SO well for Kevin Harvick in 2020.. He won 10 races and STILL didn't get to race for the championship at Phoenix

So? That doesn't mean you can't criticize a confusing system that makes zero sense at all
And it doesn’t mean I can’t have an opposing opinion.

Your view of some of this is subjective. This is not figure skating. The playoff qualification rules are written before February.

The gerbils must have put Red Bull in their coffee.

A poor choice.
