Any stupid press they can get about their illogical points format, the better. Why? Nascar won't learn from it.

Outside of a down pour in baseball and golf, NASCAR is the only major American sport to not “play” in the rain. Granted, it’s the only major sport with 30+ 3,000 pound race cars BUT it’s a little befuddling that NASCAR can’t even race in what amount to low cloud cover mist.
It will do nothing productive for the sport. All it will do is take a title away from someone who deserves it, NASCAR's tainted image won't worsen, and if it does, it probably won't be enough to move the needle towards change. I think you're just being cynicalAny stupid press they can get about their illogical points format, the better.
In Connecticut there is the Foxwoods channel..Thanks! I just added them along with Fox Nature Channel and Fox food Channel.
I’m all for NASCAR throwing oogles of money at R&D to find a way to race in light rain conditions or in low cloud/mist like today. Heavier rain? Understandably and physically dangerous, plus it would not create an enjoyable product.NASCAR shouldn't be compared to "major American sports". Thinking of it that way is what got us all of the playoffs nonsense. It's auto racing on ovals, and no major version of that has ever proceeded through rain. If they can figure out how to do it without calamity, that's fine. But it shouldn't be the goal because football.
They're in Texas. Better set one for the Houston Ship Channel. In Connecticut there is the Foxwoods channel..

But I’ve never been a fan of sticking to your guns because “it’s always been this way”. Nah, the world changes. To basically be the only sport that shys away from continuing the entertainment for hours due to mist, is pretty disappointing.

Huh? What kind of coverage are you talking about?.
did you ever consider what NASCUR's insurance coverage stipulates ???
The one in CT. Is a Casino .They're in Texas. Better set one for the Houston Ship Channel.
Some tracks (cities) have earlier curfews. There are tracks by me that have 11pm curfews, some with midnight curfews, some 3am curfews, others that have no curfews. Plus this decision probably comes partly from NBC too depending upon their other sports commitmentsDecision coming from NASCAR in about a half hour. Which tells me postponed.
I don't get it. They have lights, stay there until you run the race. I saw a Daytona race end at 3am a few years ago.
I'm -guessing- they think they can't dry the track. But they have to wait until the Kansas replay is finishedDecision coming from NASCAR in about a half hour. Which tells me postponed.

like all large corporations they carry insurance for just about everything.....from someone slipping in the bathroom to a car going into the stands......but just like your homeowners policy , there are stipulations on what they can or must do.....Huh? What kind of coverage are you talking about?
So what's that have to do with racing on rain tires? They've done that several times, as recently as two weeks ago.like all large corporations they carry insurance for just about everything.....from someone slipping in the bathroom to a car going into the stands......but just like your homeowners policy , there are stipulations on what they can or must do.....
That was on a road course. Ovals in rain are a complete unknown and it would be like a car insurance company insuring a 12 year old driver with no experienceSo what's that have to do with racing on rain tires? They've done that several times, as recently as two weeks ago.

This is the most important question I've seen tonight.
According to Mike Harmon, everything should be covered. The cup cars don't have collision coverage.
Do you honestly think NASCAR or the tracks have insurance stipulations regarding racing in the rain, regardless of track layout? Who exactly does this mythical policy protect, the drivers? That was on a road course. Yes I do believe it is a possibility, if nothing else for track worker safety (visibility)Do you honestly think NASCAR or the tracks have insurance stipulations regarding racing in the rain, regardless of track layout?
Covered, smothered, scattered, and chunked.According to Mike Harmon, everything should be covered.
Track worker safety and visibility are probably more of an issue on road courses with their blind turns than on ovals. Did you see Mid Ohio a few years ago, or Charlotte last month? The cars could hardly see each other.Yes I do believe it is a possibility, if nothing else for track worker safety (visibility)
