Cup RACE thread --- Texas

Doesn't look too promising for racing today does it?

They set portable slot car tracks up at a lot of the NASCAR races so they should start having the teams build a 1/24 scale car of the one they are running each week and if there is a rain out just move indoors and finish the race on the slot car track. It only took me 30 seconds to solve that problem so now I have to find something else to do for the rest of the day.:D
I have snow you can come shovel. Actually I would like to see them race in snow
with studded tires of course.

Here I was pi$$ed that TSN wasn't showing the race today. Had to come here to find out it
is still under rain delay.

Bowman's luck has been awful this year. He is looking like he has a pretty good chance to win stage 1 and then the caution comes out so he pits leading the race and comes out in 18th and then they red flag the race and now he has all of this extra time to have to think about the rest of this race.

I hope we get some Monday Night NASCAR, I worked all day saturday so yesterday I slept most of the day and would look forward to watching something when I come home. Even with the Bears on MNF, NASCAR would have the priority.

All of HMS, with the exception of the 9, has been smitten by by luck all year.

More like Mville, Phoenix, finale back at Texas. See NH in 2001. Gossage would wet himself like an excited puppy.

they can't do that cause they already started the texas race and it be unfair to Kevin to have finish that race with a car that just hit the wall(due to rain) which is prob going to drive like **** the rest of the race.

Yeah. No way. Phoenix is still the finale. Either the entire season will be extended a week, or we will get a Texas race in during the middle of the week after Martinsville, with the same cars. Just a s*** show. They need to get this one in this week

Childers ain't worried, if he ain't worried I'm not either. Harvick has a comfortable cushion anyway.

Just got back from the dentist.

It's still drizzling outside, so I assume I haven't missed any of the race.

EDIT: It's also cold and very windy outside. If they do somehow race today, drivers may struggle to control their cars.

that’s interesting though. I cannot imagine how the teams would bring back the same cars untouched from the last completed lap... i mean how would nascar make sure the cars are impounded for circumstances that long?

Leave them inside the texas garage stalls with nascar officials on the grounds for a week? I guess that could be possible...

Surely though there will be a window in the next 8-24 hours they can race this out

There's a hurricane coming ashore, might not race till Thursday or Friday

"So, I hear you went to the race. How bad was the rain delay?"
"Well, it was better than a trip to the dentist ..."

Also, 33 degree wind chill according to https://denton.weatherstem.com/txmotorspeedway. Drivers may stay warm in the car but those crewmen are going to be miserable.

The forecast looks good on Thursday if NASCAR can't get this race in earlier. Would Thursday be enough time to prepare for Martinsville afterwards?

If not, I imagine NASCAR would postpone their Martinsville races by a day or two before they would mess with their precious season finale races.

thats good to hear I was more worried cause Martinsville is not one of his best tracks and did'n want to have to go there with the season on the line.

I think todays circumstances make that more possible than in years past... since there’s no practice and qualifying... it definitely wouldn’t be comfortable for the teams to try and make that type of travel. It might be possible. The larger teams MIGHT even have more haulers to go ahead and take stuff(even if it was two different team cars together in a trailer) to martinsville. Definitely not an easy situation for the teams who likely just use one hauler

Doesn't look like this race is going to happen anytime soon.

And, if yesterday is any indication, it may be drizzling in some areas that aren't shaded in green.

Texas Motor Speedway is a little bit north of the letter "t" in "Worth."

If I'm not mistaken they only need to get 115 more laps in to call it an official race... or am I missing something?

The rain tire idea might be something NASCAR could bring in just as a last resort, like what they’re now looking at in Texas. Don’t hype or advertise ‘racing in the rain’ on an oval track... but have the rain tires there so that if enough weather is in the area causing issues for multiple days, then put the tires of just as a lame excuse to get a race to the half way point.

What equipment do they need from Texas to take to Martinsville? Maybe just the hauler? They probably have back-ups for those, too....

likely the hauler... pit boxes with race day equipment is the next thing coming to mind...

Teams likely have extras air guns and whatnot... but is whats laying at the shop good enough to run 500 laps for their cars at martinsville. Those race day pit boxes likely have to be the next concern though I’d think

Honestly, they don't need to knock it out of the park. Even just a top 20, top 15 finish at Texas will give him a good cushion

Most of them do not use the same car on short tracks as they do on mile and a halfs.
You are correct sir.... If they race on Friday they can still make it to Martinsville on time, stand alone on Sunday. But it will be a hustle!

Are they discussing putting the rain tires on?
