Cup series at Indy

So, speaking of todays race. Who is Samual Deeds?
The 35-year-old Erlanger, Ky., resident learned of the honor at a June 27 ceremony after being selected in national voting from a group of five finalists. During the announcement in Erlanger, country singer Justin Moore debuted the song “Heroes,” which was written for the program. Driver Kurt Busch also appeared at the ceremony.

^ from that article:
Deeds’ actions were more amazing. While serving as a gunnery sergeant in Iraq in 2005, he discovered an improvised explosive device while setting up a vehicle checkpoint. Moments after he warned away fellow Marines, the IED blew up. Deeds suffered severe injuries and has undergone about 40 surgeries and other procedures since then.

“It’s been a long road to recovery, but it’s getting there,” said Deeds, who was awarded a Purple Heart, two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, a Combat Action Ribbon and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. He was medically retired from the Marines in October 2011.

While recovering from one of the surgeries in 2008, Deeds again risked his life to save several people caught in a rip tide off the North Carolina coast. He rescued one man himself and helped direct the rescue of two others.

You know, guys, we do have a an IM feature here ;)

Edit:nevermind

Alright, people --- enough of this "who is trolling who" and "I'm smarter than you" crap.

Take it PRIVATE and OFF the damned forum.
I don't give a rat's ass who is, or isn't, smart, funny, witty, or whatever.

Discuss the racing, or leave the premises. Period
Thank you

I'm hoping for a good race today. I don't want to see a fuel race and I don't want to see one car dominate. I want to see many green flag lead changes :)

Then it would be like the last two Indy 500s! Maybe the Gen6 will mean more passing at Indianapolis. :)

there isn't going to be hardly any passing except on restarts. This is a high speed track with whomever has the biggest kaHoonas will hold it down thru the corners. Probably the most technical track in Nascar with flat narrow corners and cars on the edge of control. That is the reality. car out front will be hard to pass. If ya don't like it, get out your binky and your blankie.

I happen to like that style of racing, that's how IndyCars race on superspeedways, but they have enough downforce to pick up the draft behind the car in front and slingshot around them to pass. Case in point, the 2012 and 2013 Indy 500s.

Are you sure they're going flat out around the Brickyard? I thought they took too much downforce out of the Gen6 for them to go flat out through all four corners. I guess we will have to watch the in-car telemetry.

hell in qualifying, I was watching the telemetry and Johnson just let off for a split second. It will get worse as the tires go away, but they are pretty much flat out with new tires. I think Newman will get the jump at the start, but he will lose the lead pretty quick to the 48 and then Johnson will get out front and will go only as fast as he needs to to stay out front. Depends on who is around him on the restarts, but some will try to mug him like they did Kyle yesterday.

Yeah if Johnson isn't fast enough Kurt will get him, he won't ride around if he is faster then the 48. But, If he is fast enough is the key. johnson is going to try to get out front in clean air and run their race.

Maybe it's the old "mechanical downforce". :) Hey, anybody checked the rear-end on the 48?

ESPN aren't doing a very good job of covering the race, they're showing the pit lane like 90% of the race. I don't think I've seen the other end of the oval yet.
