D.W. really needs to be let go

If I recall aren't you kind of a newer fan to the series?

It was cool the first year or two he did it. After 16 years it ain't funny anymore. Especially when he does it 6 times.

No, Im only 25 but have always watched NASCAR since I was a kid. I can understand that it gets old but its just something fun he does that a lot of people like. Believe it or not this place isn't the only place NASCAR fans exists.

Lmao. I know one thing, when I think of deep voiced, well-spoken, fantastic broadcasters... the two people in existence I think of first are Larry Mac and DW.

I never said either were the greatest broadcaster in history or anything but they are both better than Jeff. Jeff's not even bad, I just dont like to hear him talk.

Given that Gordon has being in TV before and has been invited to host shows in the past, I'm incline to think he has what it takes.

It's probably just your paranoia.

TV is completely different game. Niw he's technically on TV in the booth but that job depends strictly on his voice while being off camera. Jeff is great at hosting and TV spots but broadcasting is a different game.

I'm not even sure what your paranoia comment means. Why would I be paranoid about a race broadcaster?

It's paranoia when you're the only one seeing a pattern that's not there.

You can make a better argument that his voice is...let's say girlish and his vocabulary is way more polished and clean than say DW.

But then again if you go by that, then does that mean women that broadcast sports dont belong in there because their voices tend to be in the high pitch spectrum?

I just dont get it I guess. Like I said, you're the only person here so far that doesn't like Gordon because of his voice in the booth. :idunno:

Hate female broadcasters. Cant stand to hear Doris Burke call a college basketball or NBA game but her voice is deeper than Gordon's at least. Im not the only one that has said that about him though, you yourself just said he can have a girlish voice.

Please make it his year. Please? And take mikey with him.

Darrell Waltrip's been in the sport, in some capacity, for 45 years, and he's been on the broadcast side for close to 20 years (longer if you consider the work he did in the 90s). He's probably going to have all that taken away from him in the next year or so, if not in the next few months.

So, like I said earlier, let the man have his fun.

Its not weird when his job solely depends on his voice. He just doesn't have a broadcast voice.
I welcome intelligent commentary regardless of the voice delivering it. I have no use for poor commentary even if it was being read by James Earl Jones.

Perhaps it could be worse.

Chris Myers, the other Waltrip ‘n Kenny Wallace doin' cup.
Despite what I said earlier, I'll at least give DW credit for being mostly authentic. Mikey is clearly a shill, a carnival barker, a snake oil salesman, a storefront preacher of the worst order. His 'off the air' persona is quite different, far more enjoyable. Sometimes he lets the mask slip during broadcasts and says something intelligent, but it never lasts.

Mikey and Kenny haven't been tolerable since 'Inside Winston / Nextel / Sprint Cup' left the air, but I'll take Kenny if I'm forced to choose.
