he feels that the car he's drivin is the strongest he's ever had for the 500, it can pull out and pass and it can led a pack and stay there. IMO I hope that's true.

Oh just give me one small break here. He does that every plate race as it is. I am about fed up with all the Juniorites acting like there's nothing going on. Stevie Wonder sees it, man. He could put a damn parachute on the back of that thing and still pass people left and right.

We all know why even if some refuse to see it. Just take your 4 races a year he has a chance at winning and go with it and quit acting like everyone should be surprised when he breaks out of line and passes half the field between turns two and three. It's getting old. And I am not singling you out, this is directed more at JuniorNation.

I'm not saying that Jr is cheating or anything, but I've always wondered how at Dega last year, he won with the big hole in his headlight. I know they taped it up, but if Schrader ever got a millimeter sized dent in his car at a superspeedway, he'd be lapped faster than Benny Parsons could yell out "Whoa!!" for no apparent reason. <_< ^_^

Yeah well let's not forget that Jr has won a few short track races too!
DEI and RCR just seems to have it down when it comes to plate races!

A very few.
It is probably similar amount of wins a lot of other drivers have in there first 4 years. In fact, I bet there are a lot of drivers who would like half of the number of juniors "short track" wins over the same period.

Uh...how many wins do you think JR. has Dino? And HALF of JR's short track wins?? Whats that, like one? Or are you talking about BGN too?

It's an honest question, I really didnt think JR had much of a short track record.

ya know I was gonna say that all this conspricy crap would go away as soon as he wins a champioship, but that's just wishful thinking, u jr. haters would just say the NASCAR handed him the trophy. I admit that he is not as good on some other tracks but he his a contender for a win on 3/4 of the tracks on the NASCAR circuit. All drivers are better than others on some tracks.

He has nine wins.....

2000 Texas and Richmond
2001 Daytona, Dover, and Talladega
2002 Both at Talladega
2003 Talladega and Phoenix

Let's see....five at RP tracks and the others at non-RP tracks. And The Winston win wasn't included.

I'm not going to list his top 5's, many at short tracks (Bristol and Richmond) and even a road course or two. But there's no fun in talking about those..Can't whine and bitch about them.

Okay. Jr. has 9 Cup wins in his career. Those are:
2000 Texas and Richmond
2001 July Daytona, Dover and Talladega
2002 Both Talladega
2003 Talladega and Phoenix

If Jr. has a "short track career", then it must be in the Busch series. I'm not dissing Jr., just stating facts.

EDIT: Dang! fergy, you beat me to it!

My biggest fear......I wish he would go ahead and win one so everyone would get it out of thier system.

It amazes me...all the whinning about how NASCAR lets Jr win at Daytona and Talladega. If NASCAR wants Jr to win so much, why at only those two tracks?

Sorry Maj! ;)

My point was that he has most of his wins at Talladega and one at Daytona. But look at the rest of his stats...many of his top 5's some are even 2nd place finishes, are at different sized tracks...

Well no one can ever accuse Jr's fans of being overly defensive at least. ;)

I really was confused by the 'short track' statement above. And for the record--and speaking only for myself----I don't 'hate' Jr at all.But He isnt my favorite driver and I think Nascar as a sanctioning body realizes their interest would be served if JR wins it all. The entire Earnhardt mythos is still to fresh and way too powerful to discount that.

Skill wise? Show me with stats and facts how Jr bypasses or exceeds Kenseth, Newman, Busch, Johnson and other newer drivers and I will have more respect for him. Of course it cant be done. Speaking of Nascar's top level series(whatever they call it now) Jr. just hasnt set the woods on fire. If that makes me cold, cruel or evil, I am sorry guys.

Write this one off as another biting anti-JR response and you do me an injustice. I just think the above facts speak pretty clearly.IF you like Jr, thats great. But not everyone does.

Junior's Cup Stats By Track....

Thanks Tony. I was posting as you were and didnt see this earlier.

Now to the original point:This Short track record is the envy of which driver(s) now ?

He's due for a fall, I like Jr. but let's look at the facts, Morgan McClure with Sterling Marlin back in 94/95 was dominating all of the RP races until they gradually fell into oblivion, now I think we might see the same thing.

Dale Jr. will win one or two more Daytonas or Talladegas, after that I think it will be back to the same old unpredictability with these teams like Childress, Yates and Gannassi starting to come up through the RP Racing ranks.

I think DEI will start to do better at the flat tracks, short tracks, they've placed good finishes there and a couple wins, instead of focusing on just four races a year, they should focus on the bigger picture and that is the championship and the other tracks.

This arguement has been beaten to death many times on this board. There are junior fans and there are anti junior fans.

Some drivers that would like some more wins: Craven, Sadler, Spencer, Jeff Green, Larry Foyt.

I by no means is saying Jr is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but he has been in the top 10-15 ever since he got to cup. He is not better than Kenseth, busch, Newman, johnson, but he can and does compete on there level.

Very well said dino, Bravo

I will say one thing. Nascar loves JR. If they show the race tor 10 min. ( which is unlikely) 5 min of that 10 is focused on JR, Doesn't matter who is leading the race.

One more thing and I'll leave this dead horse alone.

If a driver, any driver, won 5 of his 9 career wins on road courses, he would be branded a road course specialist would he not? No one's feathers would get ruffled about it, no one would jump through their rectum trying to prove that the other 4 wins meant just as much. Ricky Rudd, Rusty Wallace, Mark Martin, Jeff Gordon, and now Robby Gordon have all borne this tag.

But when someone points at that, in fact, that's about the only place Junior is gonna be a serious threat to win all hell breaks loose among the JuniorNation folks. Why is that? My daddy always told me that defensive people usually need to be.

I like jr but sometimes he is a media hog and its not his fault, the media makes it that way. I noticed he was not himself after the shootout, maybe its because all the pressure they(media) put on him to win that race.

Because in that same breath, 9 out of 10 people say that NASCAR gives him the race.

9 1/2 out of 10

It must suck when people say everything is handed to their favorite driver. I'm glad no one ever said that about Jeff Gordon! :p

One thing I've noticed since Jr can to the Cup series.............Jeffy is so much more loved than before Jr came along!! :D

Guess some people have to hate someone. Bet Jeffy is relieved.

Popularity...............that's what makes people hate drivers.

Way back when I hated Bill Elliott simply because he was so popular..........pretty silly, huh? :D

I like old Jeff pretty good by comparision, I have to admit.

I appreciate your honesty, DE. But I still would like steveluvs3 to give his answer as to why he "hates" Jeff Gordon.

I have always hated him, I'll admit he's a good driver, one of the best but not the best, when he first came to cup he had that smug "I'm the best, get out of my way attitude" I have more respect for ryan newman than gordon. That's the way I feel and if gordan wins 8 championships (which he won't) I"ll hate him even more.
You have never heard me say JR. is a great and one of the best drivers, he's good but not great....yet

"HATE" is a very strong word, Steve, and I wonder if that's really the emotion you want to express. There are many drivers that I have been angry at for various reasons but "hate"? NEVER!

Well, at least he had the respect of the late great Dale Earnhardt and every other driver he has to race with. Every race he won, he gave respect to the person who he learned to drive from. Dale Earnhardt even made the comment on numerous occasions that he probably taught him more than he should have. I guess 64 career wins........................no, nevermind. Nothing I or anyone can say will ever change your mind. How can you hate a man for having success. Oh, and by the way, I have never ever seen Jeff Gordon put off a "smug" attitude, as you put it.

I guess we'll just agree to disagree and leave it at that.
hippy.gif

 Well, I personally dont HATE any of the drivers. I admit, some I like better than others...but 'hate' is reserved for ex-wives,income taxes and that kinda stuff for me.

I Hate it for Jeff Gordon, he think he is an awsome person, great driver, but when I went to Charlotte and I heard some, numourous fans boo him and I understand, but it takes an amazing person to take all of those boo's, smug I dont think so.
