Dale jr. says

I Hate it for Jeff Gordon, he think he is an awsome person, great driver, but when I went to Charlotte and I heard some, numourous fans boo him and I understand, but it takes an amazing person to take all of those boo's, smug I dont think so.
suppose to be "i" think he is an awsome driver

I don't hate any of the drivers. Now I like some a lot better than others but not hate. Just wish I had the driving ability that even the worst driver has. At least they are driving a race car and I am not.

One thing I've noticed since Jr can to the Cup series.............Jeffy is so much more loved than before Jr came along!! :D

Guess some people have to hate someone. Bet Jeffy is relieved.
Not sure which races you've been watching, but every track I go to...Jr. is cheered & Jeff is booed.

Well, at least he had the respect of the late great Dale Earnhardt and every other driver he has to race with. Every race he won, he gave respect to the person who he learned to drive from. Dale Earnhardt even made the comment on numerous occasions that he probably taught him more than he should have. I guess 64 career wins........................no, nevermind. Nothing I or anyone can say will ever change your mind. How can you hate a man for having success. Oh, and by the way, I have never ever seen Jeff Gordon put off a "smug" attitude, as you put it.

I guess we'll just agree to disagree and leave it at that.

Gordon had the respect of the late Earnhardt??? He's the one who fueled the rumors that Jeff was gay. Some respect. Luckily, Jeff took it with a grain of salt.

"HATE" is a very strong word, Steve, and I wonder if that's really the emotion you want to express. There are many drivers that I have been angry at for various reasons but "hate"? NEVER!
yeah you're right kat, hate is a strong word, I don't hate him but out of all the drivers he's last on my list and yes maj let's agree to disagree on this subject. ;)

I never heard him say that. <_< sometimes we have to take you with a grain of salt.

now there's a first time I ever heard that, the reason alot of people thought he was gay is because of his rainbow paint scheme. I never heard dale sr. refer as gordon gay or him add fuel to the fire.

Never heard Earnhardt say that about Jeff. Did you hear him or just repeating hearsay. :D

"Dale Earnhardt even made the comment on numerous occasions that he probably taught him more than he should have."

Ego on Earnhardt's part. I am no Gordon fan really, but Earnhardt certainly had little influence of Jeff's driving style. One of the things I like best about Jeff. :p

California...............and before Dale Sr passed he was booed equally with Jeffy. And last year..........Jr booed just as much as Jeffy!! It's the threat popular dirvers have against the not so popular drivers that make people boo drivers. BTW, all the booing I heard and as I looked around at the booers..........not one of them had a hateful face to go with the boo. It's just fans of other drivers who know that Jeffy, Jr, JJ, Matt, Ryan, Kurt or any other driver are a huge threat to their personal favorite not winning. I have never seen malice in the stands........now on the boards, that's another story. :(

It was joke on Jay Leno, he made a joke about jeff being gay back in the day.

All I ever heard Dale Earnhardt say about Jeffy is "that kid".

and wonderboy.

I did'nt know he was on leno, I remember letterman but not leno and if he said that on leno would'nt it made a big stink even if it was a joke?

The wonderboy comment is where folks made the generalization that he was saying Jeff was gay. He never came out and said that wasn't what he meant. And, Jeff did and does take it with a grain of salt. ;)

I've never heard that Dale Earnhardt ever said such a thing. I'm going to say that that was a made up statement..........a figment of someone's imagination. But hatered is really insane so I guess insane statements should be expected.

exactly DEW, just like the conspiracy theories about Jr. and restrictor plates.

when dale sr and I think rusty called him wonderboy, personally I thought they were calling him that cause he was a wonder on the track, I never thought it as them calling him gay.

Oh GOOD LORD, LET IT ALL GO PEOPLE! we got a racing season coming up and bad blood between posters is certainly not needed!

I still think the gay reference came from the rainbow paint scheme since the rainbow is the sign for the gay people.

kat, I'm not sure where you are getting that there is bad blood between posters. We are having a discussion.

I know what Kat is saying. :)

It's different this time Kat.

It's also the symbol of "The Rainbow Coalition" which tries to educate people of all race, color or creed about diversity and tolerance.

I really don't think the Rainbow Push Coalition is about educating anybody, just fattening their own walletts.

It's a kinder more gentle board! ;)

Now why is that Jr is hated just for having that last name? I just don't understand it. Jr's not my fav but he's high on the list.

Repeating heresay. The heresay was heresaid on the program SportsCentury:Jeff Gordon on ESPN Classic this past Monday. Of course, you never heard Earnhardt say it...so it never happened, since you were with him 24/7 up until the time of his death.

The show is going to be re-aired this coming Friday in case you want to hear & see what I saw.

What time Friday? I have to work so I have to set my VCR if it's after about 4 pm Pacific time.

Well that kind of explains it there. I think it helps that Cali was Jeff's home state before Indy. But at Bristol, Chicagoland, Michigan, Talladega & Lowe's...it was cheers for Jr. & boos for Jeff.

Personally, I like Jr. I'm just sick of all the hype. If he ever lives up to it, then I'll put up with it.
