dam cheating fords

Safety-related tweaks per Keselowski’s words. I want to believe it. It’s too early for ____ is cheating stuff, lol.
 
If you're gonna cheat, be subtle about it? What's with the blatant cheating so early in the season?
 
It's interesting considering they aren't supposed to tamper with stock parts under penalty of death or worse. I believe the worst case is they can deny the team getting into the chase. So far nothing. I wonder if Nascar is waiting on doing something after the 500 :idunno:
 
If what they were saying was true it was more a quality control issue with the manufacturer. Claimed pin hole were not smooth making it harder to get wheel on and tight.

I suspect things like this will be an ongoing issue when you have to rely on mass produced parts

and making the wheel easier to get on the car wouldn't be a performance advantage, but all for "safety" :sarcasm:

you don't get to make any changes to the car without Nascar's permission. Nascar removed those parts, they didn't say oh great that is wonderful :biggrin:
 
If this was a legitimate issue I don't see why nascar wouldn't cooperate if the teams came forward. Wow I actually agree with StandOnIt...

on the other hand it could BE a legitimate mod that the car needs. But Nascar wouldn't let a couple of Ford teams have them and nobody else without making a Rev about it.
 
I suspect this is another one of those deals like when over half the field got caught with illegal roof flap weights a few years back. You catch a couple teams doing it, then realize it's something everyone else is doing it

yeah that could be too. That's why next week I think we will know more if they do anything or not. The teams will figure out how to make a 40 thousand dollar wheel out of it.

If there is a design flaw in the wheels and/or hubs, Penske or RFK Racing should point it out to Nascar and propose a solution. The teams didn't do that. They made secret alterations to controlled spec parts.

Nascar made a big deal about how they have to change the culture of Nascar regarding cheating, and it they don't, then the Next Gen business model won't work. I'm sure they didn't want to be tested so soon on that, but here we are. If Nascar issues a slap on the wrist, they will be exposed as being all talk without having the balls to back it up.

I hate to say it, because Brad K is 'my driver,' but this infraction should bring forth a major penalty... not the death penalty but something very painful and substantial.

How about we actually find out what they were actually doing first. It's pretty easy to measure the pin holes to see if they were cleaning them up or making the holes larger

The article I read about tampering had Nascar using the L1, L2, L3 tiers of penalties depending on what they thought of the infraction.

Nascar has video of team member grinding the holes. Doesn't sound like a precision adjustment to me.

Do the teams actually receive the wheels before they get to the track? I thought it was a 3rd party that managed the wheels and brought them to the track? I'm almost positive that's not something the teams have and are transporting to the track.

Rumor was they witnessed mechanics cleaning out the bores in the garage area, which would make sense if that's when they actually received them.

"Whomever" rolls out wheel. Team member inserts tool in holes to see if it goes in smoothly. Nope? Rolls wheel back to the guy that brought it. NEXT! They were cheating. Looking for an advantage. Been happening FOREVER! I'm not mad. Just realistic. Bust their arses and set the rules from the start. Be 30 charter cars at next race? Carl Long might want to show up!

You really don't think too much of companies that build/machine parts with CNC's do you?
 
So it's not possible that some cast and machined parts have issues? Especially since they were trying to pump them out in a hurry to be ready for the season.

Seriously we'll find out next week but I don't think they'll drop the hammer on them too hard for this considering no penalties have been handed out and no one has been suspended.

Yeah but I would think given 2 days before the race if it was something they wanted to drop the hammer on they would of suspended a crew member.

Never have before. This race MUST go off without a hitch. TONS of pressure on NASCAR for this to go well. No way first race for some new fans has 6 or so cars suspended before race starts.

I hope they fine them BIG & suspend them for next race. Make it clear you don't modify ANY spec parts or it will hurt. If you find a part that's not correct, use the phone.

They've kicked crew chief's out several times for violations prior to the 500 in the past.

Before Qualifying. I want the teams suspended. Not just team members. Park them for one week. THAT will end this stuff.
