What I mean by that is cutting out the Go Daddy commercials showing off some of her body. If she wants to be considered a serious racer, regardless of what series it is, she needs to make her image into a racer's image instead of a pretty girl who can drive a car.

I'm no women's lib person. But my outlook on these kinds of things has changed since I have two daughters, one of which is old enough to see these things and ask questions. Not only am I fan of racing, I'm also a fan of football and basketball. My daughter has asked me a couple of times if girls can do this (sport) or that. I tell her she can if that's what she wants to do. She hasn't asked about racing yet, but she will. But if he sees Danica Patrick racing with guys and wearing skimpy outfits and doing these commercials that lack taste, she's going to think to compete with men she will have to sex it up. Other young girls that are drawn into watching because of Danica will also think the same thing. Which is just wrong.

If Danica wants to do that every once in awhile, then fine. But everytime her face is on TV, so are other parts of her body. Cut out the crap, win some races, and people will take you more seriously and actually respect what you are doing.

Amen. She lost my respect having to sell herself in that way. She could have come across just as appealing w/o the lack of clothing, AND probably would have had more respect.

Guys, this is nothing new for her. She posed for FHM in April 2003. That's 2 years before she even made it into IRL and became a household name.

Personally, I don't care either way. My only gripe is that the GoDaddy commercials are so stupid that I feel like my IQ drops everytime they come on.

How much say does she have in these commericals anyways? I mean it's not like she can tell GoDaddy to stuff it, because if she does then she loses her ride.

I like the commercials myself. I think she is really hot and so the more of her I see the better.

That being said, I understand your problem with what she is doing. I also understand though that she is a business person and she knows that her looks are a major asset that she can use to her advantage. If I was a woman that looked like her I would use that to my advantage as well.

So if a driver that's in really good shape like Edwards shows some skin it's ok, he's not a muscle head, he's a great driver.

But if a good looking driver like Danica shows some skin, she's a bimbo?

Hmmm, double standard?

There is nothing sexually suggestive about that picture. Sorry but that made me ROFL. A shirtless guy is different than a shirtless girl where I come from. That is unless you hang out in a nudist colony :D

Two things are evident --

1. Sex sells

2. When you have the big bucks (GoDaddy), you pretty much can have it your way.

TRL nailed it. Can't place all the fault or blame on just GoDaddy, everybody who is selling something has attractive people in their ads as their spokeperson. Not going to change anytime soon.

Does anyone else find it funny that Mark Martin has Go Daddy on his car? Is he going to do a skin commercial too? :P

He could. Have you seen his six pack abs? Not many people in their 50s are built like he is.

Some of you must have blinders on, this sort of thing has been going on for years...maybe not in the racing sector, but then again there have been those in the NHRA that have shown skin before. Tennis, golf, they have all done it and I haven't heard anyone complain about it except the feminists. Just a simple thought here, if you don't like her, don't participate in her sponsors. That is how you can stop what you don't like.

I didn't see the Carl Edwards cover, but I did hear about it. While he showing himself off, it's not in a sexual way. The only people that see it that way are the perverts, like the ones that raised a stink over the Lindsay Vonn SI cover. The GoDaddy commercials are overly sexual and Danica participates in it. Like someone else said, Martin isn't going to be doing that. So why does she? I'll tell you why. She has to get noticed that way because her driving isn't doing it for her.

Perzactly, it's the Birkenstock and size 22 Moo-Moo wearing, hairly legged wimminz that go crazy with jealousy creating problems,,,
I''m just sayin' :D:beerbang::rolleyes:

I haven't seen any overly sexual commercials that have Danica showing off any of herself, I've seen other women in those commercials showing themselves off not Danica.

And we all know the feminist movement was created to allow ugly women access to the mainstream of society anyway.
Oh boy, I know where you got that.

For anyone that doesn't think that the picture of Carl Edwards isn't sexual, you don't know much. How often have you heard about women going crazy over some guy working outside their window with his shirt off. Of course he has to be built like a brick sh%thouse. Then there are those calendars with the firemen or policemen with their shirts off, showing how buff they are. Believe it or not, that picture of cousin Carl was not meant to please the male species, just as those pics of Danica weren't mean to please the female persuasion. It's all about sex and how to present it. BTW, you'll never see a picture like Edward's of Jimmy Spencer.

I'd rather look at Danica half naked than David Hasselhoff with those pugs puppy on his crotch.

Whoever thought that'd make a good picture should be shot. *nods*

Come on Curves. Exactly why do you think Edwards is posing shirltess. Yeah, there is a difference between a guy and gal but not much different between why thay are exposing themselves......

I know but Cousin Carl is so not a sex symbol :P (oops at least to me)

And it must then make you wonder who he is trying to appeal to if not the women. Think maybe he is trying to appeal to the guys.:D I'll take Danica.

Seems to me Danica is trying to appeal to just girls in hers soooo you might not be a player on her team :P

I heard DW say during speedweeks that "The rumor isn't true that GogranDaddy.com was sponsoring Martin.

So your saying the only way she can get noticed is by doing GoDaddy commercials? Nobody would know who she is without GoDaddy regardless of her talents as an IRL driver that include 2005 rookie of the year, only the 4th woman to compete in the 500, first woman to win in an Indy car (Japan), placed 3rd in last years Indy 500 (petty good since she was only behind Castroneves and Wheldon), etc..? All but the 3rd at Indy were before GoDaddy was her sponsor but I could be wrong.

OR are your talking she does it to get noticed in stock cars?

Oh wow!

I am stunned! If your daughters ask questions..ANSWER them! Who is it that you'd rather have answer their questions? It is the JOB you applied for when that tender moment occurred..

Properly raised children ask questions and GET the answers.

Then there is the suggestive commercials. SO? It is the time we live in. GET OVER IT! It's just the human body and sex. WIthout sex YOU nor I would be here. Your children should know everything there is to know about sex. Their Mom and Dad should take care of providing the knowledge the children have about it.

I raised six children...five girls. All of them went out into the world with all the knowledge we could provide for them. They have all used that knowledge well.

We all come into this world naked. The only reason I can see to cover ANY part of our bodies is weather. If the weather permits I see no reason for others to demand any parts of our bodies to be covered..

Betsy:rolleyes:

Not to piss in anyone's coffee here & maybe it's already been said but I'm sure Danica's bod is what most male fans would rather see than her performance on the racetrack. I know I don't care much either way, I was happy with her ARCA run, the Nationwide race oh well those things happen every year. Like someone already said, "sex sells", some Olympic girls were half naked in Sports Illustrated & folks had problems with that too. In reality though this is how the word gets out, girls half dressed on a mag cover or in a TV commercial is gonna get my attention alot faster than anything else...

You people need to get over the fact that it is all about marketing and selling your product. Danica sells for her sponsor, that is the bottom line, she is sexy and sex sells. I have a problem with the likes of the Cope sisters trying to look like two over made up Barbie dollls standing next to their cars. These two can't drive a shopping cart never mind a Nationwide car. Danica has proven she can drive in IRL and is well on her way to proving she can drive in the stock car world. This is the 21st century, some of you need to be a little less prudish and judge her on her driving ability rather than her sex appeal.

Geez you guys are a little hard on drivers representing their sponsors.I don't think I'd better be wearing my $200.00 Mark Martin Viagra jacket.Would'nt
that bring some comments.Or maybe it's just that we don't like women in racing.

totally agree (but only for good looking females)! <g>

LOL now there is a double standard :P

I don't mind women racing at all. I just think in this instance she (Danica) had to use her body to sell herself instead of her ability.
Crap in the ARCA race there were 6 women racing, did any of the rest of them act like a sleeze to get noticed?
I don't care what her sponser wanted, if she didn't want to do it she would not have been made to do it, unless she really doesn't have talent enough to hold a sponser.

Wow you must be a Bill O'Reilly fan. What you call sleazy is less sleazy than what I've seen over the past 20 years in beer commercials. It's funny you guys saying she's sleazy looking in her commercials when she is the most clothed female in her commercials. Oh for you guys that don't seem to know Danica is married, so all your thinking she is making commercials for other women well she's not. What ever happened to the saying "if you don't have anything nice to say about someone don't say anything at all".

Other than Alli Owens, who is definently no Danica Patrick in the looks department, were any of the other females noticed at all? NO. The only reason Alli was noticed was because she ran up front and because she's been running ARCA for two years.

Not much of an O'Reilly fan.
Celebrities that put themselves out there are open game. Besides I feel entitled to have my opinion. How many people made comments about Erin Crocker getting her start from sleeping with Ray Evernham? (I don't think that!) People have opinions. I feel the same about any woman who feels they have to 'sell themselves' to get ahead. The commercials are sleazy, the content is sleazy, and she has gone as far to be called the same in my book.
I liked her pre Go Daddy commercials, I thought she was spunky.
There are many products that use women to sell their goods, but most of those women aren't trying to run with the big dogs claiming to have talent. Time will tell is she has talent in Nascar.
btw I have taken so much crap about my driver I should be allowed to have on opinion on another driver male or female. The theme of this thread had to do with her commercials and what kind of example she is setting I thought.

Oh she's a celebrity now so it's ok to slam her in your opinion. I fine it ironically funny as I came to your post that below it was a Tissot watch add for a Danica Patrick watch, I guess Tissot (or Omega who happens to own Tissot) should watch out not to be straddled with the sleazy person that's name is on that Tissot watch. http://www.shoptissot.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=S&Product_Code=T0274171711100&Category_Code=c_danica_patrick

Yes, it is ok to slam her as you put it. The commercials are sleazy period. And I won't be buying one of those watches anytime soon either :D

I've worked in office environments where it was at least 5 women, minimum, to every guy.
There was always one who was attractive, dressed nice, had a sense of humor, wasn't "stuck up", knew the job and did it well. She was always the one the other women hated. Rumors left and right, none true. Jealousy perhaps?
