Danica to NASCAR?

Wrecked huh, the knuckle dragging Mike Wallace punted Shawnas car into the wall.

LOL I laugh every time I think about that. Mike did everything but come right out and tell everyone that he was going to run her into the wall. I'd say that well over 90% of those watching the race had their eyes on Mike instead of the pole sitter.

But here's a question for all to ponder. It took Shirley Muldowny some hard work to make her way into the top ranks of drag racing and once she did that, she worked until she won the title. Since that time, there have been a multitude of women in drag racing and successful as well. But NASCAR on the other had has had women come and go for many years with some of those women being top drivers in other series, yet they were never able to achieve the heights in NASCAR as they did in other series. And you look at the IRL where three women compete at almost all the tracks and though only one of them is anything like successful, the other two are not in any equipment that would get even the top drivers a good finish.

So, what is it about NASCAR that prevents women from making gains in the sport?

Interesting... because SPEED says every year that drivers have to have ARCA experience to run on the big tracks. Perhaps NASCAR doesn't enforce it as well, and Raymer slipped through the cracks?

SPEED will say anything in order to get people too watch their crappy attempt at covering a race. That is part of the script. If it where not for somebody tuning in too see the next hot prospect why would anybody be drawn to it?

Answer to that question is simple Buck....talent, there is no woman out there right now that can drive at the Cup level.

Like I said... presently there is no woman with the talent required to compete at the Cup level, if there is or was it would of happened 10-15 years ago. Nothing against ladies here, but I just don't feel they have what it takes to race, be competitive on a consistent basis, and actually win at the highest tier of Nascar...just my opinion. I'm sure there are some ladies out there that feel differently, and more power to you if you prove me wrong.

Just heard on my local late news that word has it that Danica will run a limited number of Cup races next year in a Roush built car and a full truck schedule the following year. If this does come to fruition, we'll finally get to see what this girl can do.

There are only about 8 cars that can (or at least should) win in ARCA and these two are far from that group.

Gabi hasn't done anything to impress me. She 99% of the time is more of a weapon while driving. Can't count how many times I've heard over the radio "Get away from her before she wrecks us"

Alli isn't all that bad--just needs MUCH MORE seat time. She isn't afraid to get up on the wheel tho.

Her sponsors feel the same way most sponsors in ARCA do: It's not worth it to sponsor a car in a race that's not going to be televised or promoted in any way.

Maybe, if ARCA did a damn thing or two to promote their series, more sponsors would come and developing drivers would get more seat time.

Alli's a much better driver than some of her results show. But she needs a full season of ARCA, not just 10 races.

Rousch is struggling to get rid of a car let alone bring danica in, so that'd be hard pressed to be likely. I have heard several say the same thing about Gabi. Something going on behind the scenes with that deal. She was listed at Milwaukee for the truck race and was replaced.....??? An ARCA race earlier this year they showed up at the track a day late....??? I hear a family member might be cutting funding and things at this point are race to race at best.

Danica is the most beautiful girl on the planet by far, hands down. I know her and I have stood next to her and talked to her numerous times and she is an absolutely awesome, beautiful young woman.

As for her going to NASCAR, Im not going to get into all that discussion. I knew all these rumors, speculations and such would crop up a long time ago since her contract is up this year. Personally I know AGR will not just let her walk away that easy.

As I heard her say, she is focused on winning races and doing the best she can right now. She has a lot of options and they are being weighed out right now.
